We’ve left two alley oops wide open. 4 points we gifted to la tech. Shot terribly again from the ft line. Benjamin played worse than ass and gave la tech like 4 extra points and momentum. We shot ourselves in the foot over and over today

Glad we didnt get blown out but that was a winnable game. Benjamin really hurt his team today.

I’m pissed at Benjamin. He not only sucked ass on the court, he played dirty as hell today. He cost us the game.

Some bad defense late didn't help for sure but I would say Benjamin's behavior directly cost UAB this loss. I would suspend him for a game.

To be honest, I wouldn’t mind if we never saw Benjamin play another game.

I wouldn’t mind either. Horrible, dirty play today. And he has been BAD on the court.

Recall that Ralat, a baseball player, beat Benjamin out towards the end of last season. I think the college season wears him down physically. He started hot last year too but then kinda fizzled in February.

I see AK showing Benjamin that he will likely need to find another place to play next year. My bet is AK can find better to replace him. Getting beat is one thing. Beating yourself while embarrassing your team, school, and fans is another.

The trouble comes when you start playing thick body, long guards in conference play and you don’t have another actual PG on the roster. 5’10 145 is gonna have trouble in all 3 divisions of NCAA hoops.

We’ve got Elijah Tate committed. Working on Emareyon McDonald. I’m hoping for La’Bree Williams. We’ve reached out to D1 transfers as well.

2 techs on Benjamin results is estimated 6 pts(tech shots and ball)
3 ptr at 1st half buzzer
Game was very winnable if not for...
We need better play, calmer/smarter heads, better 3pt shooting down the stretch

Shooting from anywhere outside 10 feet. Our FT shooting has dipped below 70%.

In the last 20 seasons of UAB basketball, only one team has shot the 3 ball as bad as this one (13/14 team at 30.1%) In CUSA games we're sitting right at 29%, so maybe the worst UAB perimeter shooting of the 21st century.

UAB's guards shooting in road games:

(6) Benjamin 31.1 FG% 27.9 3PT%
(6) Ertel 34 FG% 18.8 3PT%
(4) Quan 38.5 FG% 25% 3PT%
(6) TSG 45.9% 40% 3PT%

Our top 2 players in free throws attempted:

Lovan 66% overall, 53% on the road (91 FTA)
Quan 55% overall, 50% on the road (49 FTA)

Nicholson has dropped from 74% FT to 54% this season.

With this kind of shooting, it's surprising we have won any road games. We were bad last year (32.8% from 3). It's hard to believe we're actually worse this season (30.6 overall).

Never seen a player foul someone with their taint before. I'm actually a little impressed by the creativity.

. That's a unique description for an intentional foul. The television commentator said he had never seen it either.

RE: La Tech Game 2
I’ve never seen it in a legitimate basketball game either. He looked like a five year old trying to wrestle with his really big brother out in the drive way. It was stupid, pointless, and really one of the dumbest things I’ve ever seen on the court. The second one he tried to trip their player by flailing his arm and leg. He lost the game for us yesterday, and I don’t say those types of things lightly. They really should consider kicking him off the team. I’ve never seen two more idiotic plays in basketball, and to top it off, he flat out SUCKED on the court..

Bingo. This comment isn't just directed at AK but I don't understand why coaches sign guards who can't shoot the 3. Tony Toney shot less than 30% from 3 in high school. Not sure about Jeffries but I think if he was a good 3 point shooter he would be seeing some PT. Our one guard commit, juco Elijah Tate, is shooting 28.3% from 3 for Odessa College right now

On the other hand, we sign a guy (Ertel) that shot 44% from 3 as sophomore and 33% as a junior. He comes in and shoots 22%. That's the biggest head-shaker for me. At that shooting %, he really shouldn't be shooting any 3's.

RE: La Tech Game 2
I feel like watching our offense in hoops this season is like that game vs MTSU in Fball under McGee where we ran the ball in all but two plays. Our offense is, if you aren’t within 12-15 feet, you should risk turning it over by forcing your way closer to the basket because not only is our 3 point shooting bad, but suddenly so can be our transition D.

Now I worry that our strength in press defense becomes our Achilles heel when we have the ball. Doesn’t take a genius to figure out that we have shooting guards bringing the ball up the court when Jalen isn’t in. Also, when he’s in, you’ll want to trap him if you have longer guards.

I won’t rag on Jemison as much as others. This is his first season of legit playing time at the college level. He came home out of shape. He’s still gonna need time to reach the consistency Cokley had in finishing through contact. He and Gordon both have had injuries in the prior season. Kirkland wasn’t playing more than 17-18 minutes in Juco.

Kirkland was inherited even though he wasn’t already signed. I watched an interview where he said he was set on us even if Ehsan remained.

When AK got the job, the pandemic had just begun. No visiting of recruits. Zoom calls only. He had to convince the players from last year’s team to stay that I assume he wanted. He had limited ability to go out there and grab talent in a month. I think he already said this year he will look at the transfer portal to address areas of concern.
