For an ace shooter, he doesn't take his time, and his FTs seem to get a lot of rim. Hit 3 big ones and a couple last game though.

Yeah, I like his confidence, but I've rarely seen a great free throw shooter who rushes his shot. No doubt he's a really good shooter, but maybe he should work on his FT routine. 3 for 4 in crunch time is better than we normally get though, so I'll take it.

Yes they are winning, but any of these last four could have been losses when we've been leading largely most of the games. Have to close out better and not let these teams creep back in.

Team has looked night and day after coming back from that long COVID pause. We still aren't the best team, but everyone finally looks like they know what they're doing out there. This is really encouraging progress.

Also hats off to them for gutting out these wins. I've watched way, way too many of our teams roll over in close games.

If only they'd have pulled out a couple of those blown games earlier and be 9-5 right now.

But, I'll take 7-7 for now.

Really good win. Keith got it down in that 3 min. stretch starting at about 5 min. left, and his haters can't stand it lol.

A lot of guys are playing well for this team. Fun to watch.

I just love watching UC win. I'd be thrilled if keith went for 25 and 10. I want Keith to be the best guy on the floor. Nobody is rooting against Keith.

RE: Game Day Thread: UCF at Cincy
MAW appears to be over whatever was in his head early in the season, KW is playing his own game rather than trying to do everything like he was earlier in the year, we're getting contributions from up and down the roster, we've got crunch time guys who can hit free throws and control the ball, and Mason Madsen certainly looks like he belongs. Despite the competition (the Terrible T's can make any team look good in this conference), I am FAR more optimistic about the future as I was earlier this year. If the young guys continue to progress, Gabe Madsen comes back and shows what made him a regarded recruit, and we find a big for next year, this could be a very interesting team in the coming years.

We've been 'in' every game this year except one...now we seem to be handling the end of game situations better. That is down to youth growing up.

How about one positive for every negative you sat about him.

I'll add to this, Vogt has looked a lot more like the guy we saw pre-shoulder injury last season. I think he lost a lot of important weight training dealing with that injury, which led to him losing most of the muscle gains he made last season in our S&C program. Seems like he's starting to find his confidence again.

The offense moving better has allowed him to play his game. He isn't a guy who can create his own shots, never has been, and early in the season we weren't together enough on offense to get him his looks.

Happy that he's been able to find a place on the offense these last few games. When he gets his looks, they're almost free buckets.

Of note he's looked worlds better on defense. He's not a rim protector by any means but he's looked less lost on closeouts and switches. Actually getting some blocks.

Our next scheduled game is Sunday 2/21. I wouldn't be surprised if we have a makeup game on Thursday or Friday.

Lose big, lose close, win close, win big...

It's a process, and we appear to at least be rounding second base here. Obviously our next game will be a different benchmark, but I feel better about this team now than I did in mid-December.

If Memphis is covid clear they have an opening on Thursday. ECU could also work on Thursday.

Another fun game to watch. Couldn't take another Kevin Johnson 100% broadcast so I listened to Dan and Terry instead. Terry was very good. Dan was en fuego!

Keith Williams is so good when he is good. And he is so bad when he is bad. You can't keep him off the floor, but it sometimes hurts to watch when he is on iy.

Madsen looks better every game. For fun, just watch him when he is on the bench. Most active and encouraging bench player we have.

Vogt is SLOWLY improving every game. It had but a long, slow process, but it is coming around. He does get screwed by the refs every game for some reason, but he plays better when he ignores it and plays aggressive. Terry Nelson noted how much better the defense is from the other four players when they can trust the center to be handled by one guy. That free throw shooting, however. Tough to watch.

Loving MAW's outside stroke.

This entire team could use a week of just practicing blocking out on rebounds.

RE: Game Day Thread: UCF at Cincy
Good call. I decided to drink every time Kevin said, "Like I said.....(which is weird, because he had rarely said it prior)" and I've been passed out since halftime.

I'm ready for this team to win by more than four points - they need a killer mentality when they're up, and just haven't quite developed it yet.

Also, I get that Brannen wants the team to shoot the three, but there are too many times when we seem to go into a mode of just relying on that. Madsen had a great backdoor cut early in the game and Eason looks good (with room to improve) in the paint. I'd like to see more inside out, where our shooters can set their feet better.

If there are no games added this week it will give me time to work on plays.
