Rooting Interests
So I'm curious where everyone's rooting interests are: are you full-on ASun fans, or do you pull heavily for other schools as well? Who else do you keep up with, even casually?
I'll start:
My primary rooting interests are Florida & Liberty. I pull for Florida more-so during Football season, & Liberty more-so during Basketball & Baseball season.
I pull casually for the following teams as well:
AAC: USF, UH, & Navy
ACC: NCST
B1G: Iowa & Wisconsin
Big 12: OKST & TTU
C-USA: Marshall
Indy: Army
MWC: Air Force
PAC 12: Stanford & Colorado

I'll pull for all the ASUN schools if their not playing UNA.
Other than UNA, I really don't pull for anyone but I do enjoy watching certain schools play and dont like others.
Schools I enjoy watching
TCU
All the service Academies
Georgia Tech
Pretty much all FCS schools

RE: Rooting Interests
Always first, UNA, my alma mater. Roar Lions!!
I grew up an Alabama fan, so I pull for them in FBS football and all teams in SEC play.
I also have degrees from Montevallo and Troy. I pay remote attention to their sports.
I live in Pensacola, so I keep up with West Florida in D2.
I also covered the Gulf South Conference as a sportswriter for five seasons on D2Football.com until this year. So, by habit, I'm keeping up with and pulling for them.
So, Go Lions, Crimson Tide, Falcons, Trojans, Argonauts, and the GSC!

North Alabama - Home town school, born and raised in Florence & Lauderdale County and live in Florence. Season Ticket holder for Football, Women’s Soccer, Women’s Volleyball, & Basketball.
Alabama Football - hope they go undefeated every season.
Occasionally keep up with Troy, went to school there for a year or so.
Various other teams in playoffs depending upon the situation.
I’m a non collegiate graduate.

Besides my interest in the A-Sun given UCF's historic ties to the conference, I consider myself a Stetson fan (as long as they're not playing UCF). My late best friend went to Stetson and loved the Hatters, so I support and follow along as best I can. Hoping Donnie turns them around and finally gets that NCAA appearance my friend Bryan always wanted to see.

RE: Rooting Interests
I might as well chime in here.
1A. Eastern Kentucky
1B. Louisville
I always root for the Alma Mater first, but I've been a Cards fan longer than anything else. It's in my blood. So unless we're talking about a head-to-head matchup I love them both equally.
I'm still figuring out where Bellarmine fits into all of this with their move to D1, but here's the rest of things for me:
3. Purdue-I have family connections there including my cousin who is one of my very best friends. My sister-in-law also works there.
Other teams I root for more casually include:
-Auburn: My best friend from high school went there for a while, and as a Louisville fan I have an affinity for any school that has to play second banana in their own state.
-Ball State: My wife and I both have family connections there.
-Xavier: Family connections as well. I really wanted to go there myself, but you know...$$$
-WKU: I don't really root for them, but my wife went there. I know. It's disgusting.
-I have family connections to Vanderbilt as well.
-Whoever happens to be playing Kentucky on any given night. :)
If I had to pick a favorite in each FBS conference:
SEC: Auburn
ACC: Louisville
B10: Purdue
B12: Eh...Iowa State? I have a relative who played women's hoops there.
P12: Washington State or Oregon State...the whole second banana thing I guess.
AAC: I can't say that I really care, but even as a former Louisville rival I feed bad for Cincinnati getting left out of the conference shuffle.
MW: Boise State. I got to walk out on the Smurf Turf once.
CUSA: Obligatory WKU on behalf of my wife I guess.
SBC: App State. We took a trip there to watch EKU play when I was in college. Pretty campus, former team of Louisville HC Scott Satterfield, and their current head coach was once our LB coach at EKU.
MAC: Ball State for family or Central Michigan which was the site of another fun trip to watch EKU when I was in college.

RE: Rooting Interests
I have been a Penn State fan my whole life but they have been relegated to second or co-first status with Liberty getting the nod since I attended/graduated from there. If they were ever to play each other, I'd choose to root for Liberty unless it would spoil the national championship for Penn State or something. I have family who attend/graduated from Penn State and I'd like to get a degree from there (started one but life happens) since I grew up cheering them on.
Other than those two, there isn't anyone I associate as "my" team/school anymore. I used to have some casual teams I followed but I reached a point where it didn't make sense to me that I would only cheer for a school in certain sports. Other than general Big Ten and ASUN schools, I have family in North Carolina so I try to follow the NC ACC schools a little as well as other VA schools.

This is easy:
1.and all numbers after is Bellarmine. BU basketball has been my main sports interest since I was able to see. Father taught there for over 30 years. I am an alumnus. So we're talking over 50 years.
Now I'll give honorable mentions to the following UK (law degree), Florida(tax law degree) and a very far fourth is Louisville, mainly I can't stand how other UK fans hate them so much. Before this season it was easy to divide my loyalties up a little, but now that BU is D1 it is all Knights all the time.

RE: Rooting Interests
1) JSU
2) A loose hierarchy of SEC schools. I grew up in Georgia, so UGA is usually at the top, but even that can fluctuate, depending on who they're playing and what the stakes are. For example, if Bama is in line for a National Championship and UGA isn't, I don't root for the spoiler. I'll pull for the Tide. Likewise, in 2010, I rooted for Auburn over Bama. I've also been known to pull for LSU in certain limited circumstances. I'll usually root against UF and UT. I have no opinion on the rest of the conference.
3) I pull (quietly) for most schools which have current or former rivalries with JSU. So when UNA was winning all those championships in D-II, I was happy for them, even if I wasn't exactly sporting Lions swag. And when that certain other school three hours south of JSU won their first game over a ranked D-I opponent in 2004, I watched on ESPN2 and cheered for the underdogs. I did shower with bleach afterwards, of course. Why would I root for a rival? Well, would you rather tell people your big historical rivals are Clemson and Alabama, or Flat Rock College and Sisters of the Poor?
When it comes to conference opponents, rival or not, I almost always pull for them in OOC games and, especially, playoffs. It has little to do with loyalty or brotherhood or anything of the sort. It's simply this: if three OVC (and future ASUN) teams make the playoffs, and all three win at least one game, then it helps JSU's seeding the following season.
The whole "big fish in a little pond" thing is overrated. You want to be the big fish in a big pond. That can only happen when the other fish eat.

Um I only see one school in your post! I am miffed that UK didn't play BU when they had an opening in December. Cal knew darn well he had a good chance of losing.

I look forward to learning more about the asun schools and rooting for them.
