How many seniors from your team do you think will decide to return next year?

RE: WAC Seniors
Great question. Mikey Dixon and Oscar Frayer seem to finally be gaining traction in Drew's system, so another year (if left up to them) might really improve their chances of playing pro overseas.

I think Asbjorn capitalizes on this break out year and finds a professional home next year. I'm also not sure Lever has anything left to prove at the collegiate level, in terms of skill development that will translate to middle or upper Euro leagues. Maybe it depends on how the Lopes season finishes if his heart is set on getting GCU to the NCAA tourney, but I honestly expect him to be gone regardless.

Miller-Moore has been okay, but I can see him being encouraged to seek an opportunity to play out his remaining eligibility elsewhere. Lopes are bringing in at least three 2021 kids and need the roster spot if they are going to try replacing size via the transfer market.

I think the biggest impact with this question is what happens to scholarships? If seniors come back, can you increase the number of scholarships? If yes, how long does the scholarships increases continue? If no, what is the impact on bringing in new players? Going to be very interesting how this works out and this impacts all sports.

Seniors that aren't wanted will be asked to find a new home if they plan to play an extra year.

Does GCU have any seniors they don't want to return? Dixon? Frayer? Lever? Midtgaard? Miller-Moore?

NMSU's seniors are Evan Gilyard, Clayton Henry, Donnie Tillman, and Johnny McCants.

Evan Gilyard was kind of short changed both his season's here at NMSU. Last season, Gilyard was expected to sit out the whole 2019-20 season but was activated in late December (after receiving a waiver). Because of COVID, he missed out on the opportunity of going to the NCAA tournament last season. Currently, the Aggie's season have been a cluster f... If NMSU doesn't make it to the NCAA tournament in March, there might be enough incentive for Gilyard to return next season.

Clayton Henry has been injury prone the last two seasons. Coming from junior college, I'm not sure he wants to waste what few years he has left in basketball attempting to return to NMSU for a third senior season and a forth overall?

Donnie Tillman is good enough to make money playing basketball somewhere. I would be very surprised if he returned to NMSU.

I think most Aggies fans would love for the local kid, Johnny McCant, to play another season at NMSU. If any Aggie senior were to return, he would be the most likely one. But after attending NMSU five years already, he might be ready for a new chapter in his life. We will see.

I wouldn't shed any tears if Frayer and Miller-Moore moved on after this season. It would be great to have the rest back, but I think some are less likely than others to return. And while I know this topic is about seniors, I'm also keeping my eye on whether or not a kid like Bryce Okpoh stays around. He is the prime example of a Majerle hold over who doesn't seem to have much of a role under Drew, even though it appeared at times last year that he had the potential to eventually become the player Oscar Frayer should have been.

Does Tarleton have a program like UTRGV? At UTRGV tuition and fees are free for Texas residents from families making under $95K. They could gently suggest that in-state scholarship players who qualify could go walk-on to make room for new players. The players would have to cover their own room and board, but Edinburg (and Stephenville too, I'd guess) can be very cheap if you share a room and eat in.

The question remains is COVID will be around in the fall. It could limit the number of oversea professional jobs. It might benefit some of the seniors to return for another year.

RE: WAC Seniors
Going to give this thread a little bump headed into the final slate of weekend series. GCU ?announced? that they will be honoring 4 of the 5 seniors on the roster tonight. The only one not being honored is Sean Miller-Moore. I would say that if the school is honoring them tonight, it likely means that they won't be returning next year? As strange as it may seem, the only one I feel like I would really miss is Midtgaard. GCU hasn't had a good post presence since the Grandy Glaze and Vernon were on the team, so it was really nice to see Midtgaard on the court.

Of UVU's two seniors it looks like only Evan Cole will not be returning. He's the only one who took part in Senior night last week. JJ Overton told his San Diego hometown newspaper he was coming back to UVU next year. I don't see any underclassmen starters leaving, especially Aimaq who loves Madsen, and as only a sophomore he seems to understand he's still got a lot of development.

If JJ Overton returns one more season, UVU will be very strong next season. I think Tim Fuller can step in to replace Evan Cole. Plus, we need to see what Madsen signs in the off-season.

Based on just conference play, Uche Dibiamaka from UTRGV would be in the list. But Johnson and Butler would drop off of it.

Based on just conference play, Uche Dibiamaka from UTRGV would be in the list. But Johnson and Butler would drop off of it.

I just compiled the list to show how the Texas 4 might impact the conference next season. Some of these team have players who will become household names for the avid WAC basketball fan.

On a side note, looking at the Freshman stats, I think the WAC Freshman of the Year probably comes down between Seattle's Kobe Williamson or Tarleton's Freddy Hicks.

Harrison from Lamar, is one to watch. He probably could have gone to a better program but chose to stay home. Price had recruited him early.

RE: WAC Seniors
Until we know which seniors will return, it's virtually impossible to project who are going the be the favorites for the 2021-22 season in the WAC. Arguably the four strongest teams going into the 2021-22 season are senior loaded now. Grand Canyon currently starts four seniors; New Mexico State starts four seniors; Abilene Christian starts three seniors; and Stephen F. Austin starts four seniors.

Hopefully, the next basketball season will not be marred by COVID. And, we can carry on (within reason) as business as usual and fans will pack the stands again.

Good catch. I don't remember seeing or hearing about one on Twitter. Maybe that means everyone is returning...

RE: WAC Seniors
The Aggies were vagabonds this season. They had no home for fans to give the seniors a send off.
