RE: Arkansas, Arkansas St to play at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock
Hosting Missouri in Little Rock prevented Arkansas coaches from talking to recruits because they were not on campus. You add that game to the yearly A&M game in DFW and that prevents a ton of recruits from visiting your campus and facilities.
Arkansas finally play in-state programs is a major change in scheduling philosophy as U of A doesn’t want to lose importance and in-state recruiting. Also, the money stays in the natural state to help build or fund the UA-Pine Bluffs and so on.

Um, the press release says this game is in 2025. Meanwhile, Arkansas is playing UAPB twice before then, in 2021 and 2024.
That should be the real header.

I wish more big time schools would use their rent-a-victim games to host in-state FBS programs. If you’re going to play a body bag game at least play it against a local school that can bus there

I think the virus has caused more of that already. E.g., here in Louisiana, LSU recently announced games against two in-state HBCUs, Southern and Grambling, that they have never played before. And soon too, not 10 years from now.

Exactly. The big boys only want to play in-state opponents that have <10% chance of winning. If it's a team that has a 20% chance of winning and the motivation of taking on the in-state king bumps their chances over 30%, then the big boys won't schedule those games.
For anyone tempted to get outraged about big teams avoiding those matchups: If you were the head coach at one of those big programs, and you knew that losing to an in-state G5 would make boosters angry enough to call for you to be fired, then you wouldn't schedule those games either.

Yes, that's the funny thing about most G5 gripes about the P5: If the griper were a member of the P5, they would behave exactly as the P5 would.
It's like back in 2011 when I was on Big East boards. A lot of fellow USF fans I knew called schools like Syracuse and Pitt "traitors" and whatnot for leaving for the ACC, when we all knew that if the ACC had invited us, we'd have left too.

I disagree. I think G5 fans knowing the struggle wouldn’t be afraid to have their team play those type of teams. Plus I don’t think all P5 fans think that way. They still play other G5 teams who stand similar chances.

Troy seems to do a good job of attracting some big-name opponents. I recall you have played teams like Missouri, Nebraska, LSU and Clemson in recent years.

You're right. I totally get why games like this dont get scheduled much. It sucks and I dont like it, but i get it. Heck we went without playing an FCS team this year and it was fine. Actually it made our schedule even more interesting. So what if we wouldve went from 2 wins to 3. Doesnt matter. Why risk the loss when the win doesnt help us?

The grip is not that the big school wont play, because we all understand the huge risk they would take,( even though it is sports, just dont lose) the real grip is more about the big schools avoiding the risk and then turning around to say "look at how good we are" "we're so good you cant touch us".

I looked up the history of who Arkansas played. They did not played UAPB at all. Here is what I found.
Hendrix 17 times lost to them a couple of times.
Ouachita Baptist 8 times and the first game of instate colleges to play each other in 1896.
University of Ozarks 7 times and lost to them twice.
Henderson State 6 times.
UCA and UAM 2 times
The rest of the schools they did not played yet. They could have played Little Rock before 1937 when Little Rock was a JC, but they did not. 1937 was the year that the junior colleges formed NJCAA since NCAA would not allowed them to play post season championship games.
