NMSU vs GCU
This weekend is GCU vs. NMSU. If you guys don't sweep us this weekend there is something still wrong with your team.

I’m not holding my breath. It’s the pessimist in me. We always seem to miss every FT when we need them the most.

RE: NMSU vs GCU
Why would anything less than a GCU sweep of NMSU be a failure by the Lopes instead of a success of the Aggies? Last I checked, Jans is still a helluva coach and he should have the hungriest bunch of players with the biggest chips on their shoulders going into these games. I think most GCU fans can be honest in admitting this roster is pretty tissue soft and it would surprise no one to see at least a split, if not an Aggie sweep. Bryce Drew is less than a year on the job, so any declarations of whether or not something is "wrong with (our) team" are premature by a couple years.

RE: NMSU vs GCU
I think we see a split this weekend but the current trend for this year in the 2game set is whoever wins game 1 sweeps the two game set. So it's very important to win the 1st game.

At this moment, NMSU is missing three starters (Rice, Henry, and Tillman) and is undermanned (additionally not having Kiir, Agee, and Watson). GCU should be a clear cut favorite to win both these upcoming games. Now, "if" NMSU were at full strength with more than a few games under their belt and we are entering into the WAC tournament, then maybe you could justifiably say your comment. Right now, GCU is the best team in the WAC.

RE: NMSU vs GCU
Honestly, other than in-game experience, where GCU has an advantage is around the basket. Unless our bigs play a lot better than they have, I think Mitgaard (no idea how to spell it) and Lever could have a field day.

Guards, I am not as familiar with, other than Frayer and Blacksher Jr. I think we have the athleticism to hang with those two, the question is, do we have enough game experience (and conditioning) to hang for a full game?

Either way, I am just excited to see this team play another D1 opponent to see how we stack up.

GO AGGIES!!!!

On that note, I just saw that GCU is bumping student attendance to 900 for the NMSU series, which is still only about 13% capacity for the arena.

I'm hoping we can work our magic against GCU like we have the last couple of years, but I ain't expecting it. Jans could also be playing 4D chess by convincing everyone that Rice and Henry are both still injured by having them wear the boot only to bust them out for Friday's game.

I'm not bold enough to make this statement. I won't feel conformable until 6:59 on Friday night and there is no cancellation notice.

That thought has crossed my mind. Then I put down the Six Shooter and try to think straight. But wouldn't that be something...

Why would Jans sit two of his best players in a warm up game vs WNM after not playing in what 30 days if they were able to go full speed?

I don’t know, but Jans sat Tillman and Kirr and they will be playing this week. I doubt that’s the case for Rice and Henry though.

Tillman sounds like he is in Jans dog house though. Tone of Jans when talking about Rice Henry and Tillman are distinctly different.

I doubt he would. Recall my six shooter reference.

I agree about Tillman. Sounds like something is up.

Kiir played 2 minutes against an NAIA team. He scored 2 points, had 2 rebounds and a block. He tried to force things, travelled, Jans immediately subbed him and ripped him a new one. I don't expect him to play much, if at all against GCU even though we were told he would be available.

Random but is the NIT, CBI, or CIT hosting a tournament or is it only the NCAAT this year?

That would be to bad if we didn’t play Kiir much against GCU. From what I saw in those 2 minutes, even though it was only 2 minutes. He is 10x the athlete than Mcanair. We need his as our true center if we want to make a run in conference.

It could be, but there could be other potential explanations for it too (Family, etc) that didn't allow him to be there either. None of which Coach Jans would be able to comment off even if he wanted to. Coach Jans certainly didn't want to touch the question, that's for sure.

GO AGGIES!!!!!
