RE: Denbrock interviewing for OC at Vandy
I think our offense was fine. The biggest issue was personnel, IMO. We saw that with the musical chairs on the offensive line in the second half of the UGA game. Missing 2 key cogs and still not enough depth to replace it.

Denbrock is +/- but losing him this year would have been rough considering Freeman leaving.

It also hurt particularly against Georgia not having Doaks healthy. I think it's important with what they run to have a bigger back and that concerns me more about next year than anything else on offense. I'm still hoping we might land a transfer to fill that void and compliment Ford, but who knows. Tavian Thomas would have been nice to have the next couple years. Not sure what he's doing now, but this would have been his moment.

Totally agree. We need a THUMPER, but Thomas The Train's time has come and gone.

RE: Denbrock interviewing for OC at Vandy
Doaks is big and ran in straight lines into the teeth of the defense. That wasn’t going to help as much against GA’s front 7 especially with Robinson betting pushed into the backfield every other snap.

I’ll take what we got from Ford now that they’ve figured out you don’t run him off guard like a fullback. When they mixed in plays where he could go off tackle to the edge or go up, plant a foot and bounce outside he was pretty dynamic down the stretch this season.

Pretty certain we can’t add anyone now, as the NCAA changed a couple years ago that transfers count into your 25 person max per class

Is that still the case though if an underclassman enters the portal in the next several months? I wasn't sure if a guy with 2 or 3 years left goes into the portal you could not replace him with another transfer?I

Funny thing is i don't think Thomas has even reupped with a D1 school from his twiiter. I think he played juco last year. Has some offers and still has activity with UC guys if i have the dates right from his twitter. Shame if his year away was a juco.

Teams are capped at 25 scholarship additions per year and these days it's a pretty hard cap. We're maxed out for the current cycle/year after adding that OT transfer, but I'm not sure when the next year starts.

From everything I have ever heard, Tavion’s issues extend beyond his playing abilities. I think we can just put him in the Mister Simpson, Freddie Lennix, Latwan Anderson, Akise Teague, Meechie Harris file of talent squandered.

It’s still the case if half the team enters the portal.

You get 25 new additions on scholarship a year regardless of the status of the 85 scholarship limit.

Mister Simpson. I was at a BBQ joint in Birmingham and Terrell Byrd's mom and uncle were there. Since both Byrd and Simpson were from Colerain I asked them want was going on with Simpson they shook their heads and said "He has real problems." Nough Said.

RE: Denbrock interviewing for OC at Vandy
Bearcats 2021 roster:
6 RBs
9 TEs
10 Ss
13 Cbs
19 WRs
And no RB Coach!
I don't think any of Tavion's 2020 video is a real game.
All look like scrimages and in the first play the yard marker people
are wearing football helmets, same gold color as the offense and defense.
The largest Bearcat RBs are
Ford 215
Mike K 215 - never seen him play
Ryan M 205
Ethan W 193
Myles M 190
CMac 190
Ethan and Miles are the newest and both are fast
but no one has called them power backs.
But its only January. Tavion is 230 and says his GPA is 3.2.
In the entire 2021 recruiting class, there are only three 4 star RBs from the midwest:
1. went to Mich.
2. Kiner went to LSU
3. went to Minny
If I were to nominate a fullback, I would pick 6-5 220 Chamon Metayer.
In his video he is a tremendous athlete. I thought he would be another Myjai in a few years.
Because of Travis Kelce, Bearcats are now TE University! and so Chamon from North Miami is a TE.

I would go even bigger, Cam Jones 6-8 278. He was a high school QB, so I would assume he would be comfortable taking a direct snap and making those short yard runs.

i was thinking the same thing. Honestly, when we went "wildcat" with the RBs this season, we probably should have been putting in a package with him since he's a legit R/P threat. Oklahoma did the same thing when they had Blake Bell, and, of course, we did with Travis.

RE: Denbrock interviewing for OC at Vandy
I'm not sure if it's correct, but a guy last night told me that he didn't think the juco TT went to played last year due to covid which makes sense. You need a bruiser if not for anything else to keep teams honest. Doaks often would not get any meaningful yardage until later in the game and fans were often frustrated with running him into the line for small if any gains, but it sets things up for later down the road. Also thought bringing Ford in after numerous Doaks attempts gave that change of pace look that confused the defense.

We've seen a similar redemption story work out at Cincinnati on the basketball side (Octavius Ellis). If CLF wanted Thomas back and felt he had his academic affairs in order, I would be all for it. I doubt it will happen, but would be pretty neat.

It's always ironic when a guy leaves for likely one reason is playing time and he ends up not playing at all the next year.

Yep...also, Thomas seems to only have interest from teams with a history of taking partial qualifiers, so I'm guessing those problems haven't completely cleared up.
