Basically the two parties are "Not Democrat" and "Not Republican" and people choose who they vote for based on the opposition to one groups platform.

If there is a legit splinter group that asks religious/2A Republicans to break away from "moderate" Republicans, then "Democrats" will tilt heavy left and absolutely own every political office they want.

Um, they already own every political office. Barack was pulling strings to counter everything Trump did for 4 years. Never was a transition of power. And when it became time to challenge an evidential fraudulent election, Mitch made deals to accept the steal and scotus sent the evidence back to the return address. Again, how many more votes did Trump get compared to 2016? There’s only one direction for the Right to go.

I could see Trump putting together a PAC to primary GOPs that did not have his back.

Yep. The GOP is already a popular minority as is. Far right moves to Patriot and leaves moderate Republicans behind, then you have 2 parties that are weaklings and ensure Center Left drives the bus for decades.

The Republican Party has been a damaged brand for a long time.

Having said that, a 3rd, right leaning party will just split the vote.

Perhaps that it was is needed for awhile as the core of the GOP may be beyond repair.
