Ok, True. Doesn't really change the math though. 1 FCS-non-scholarship competitor instead of 0 FCS competitors.

...would it be a reversal/comeback or bsc karma of former bsc commissioner doug fullerton's attempt to destroy the wac football from back in 2012???...initially fcs level but potentially fbs in the future???

Fullerton was a bum. He did all he could to shoot his mouth off and hurt the WAC. SUU joining the WAC has to be pain point to him. And North Dakota leaving after a short time. He'll hit the roof if the WAC could get Northern Arizona and/or Weber. His goal of the Big Sky as the only game in town didn't pan out at all lol.

Eh, no one in the Big Sky cared in North Dakota left - it was a pain in the ass to get to.

And the northern members never wanted SUU to begin with. NAU was the one pushing for them to get in.

I still don't understand the SUU move - I guess they think that the WAC Football will be easier and cheaper.

UND was going to be a package deal with USD. Then USD got an 11th hour invite to the Summit and Foolerton looked like a total dumb ass for orchestrating the UND add as everyone in the conference had to fly to bumfuc nowhere to play D1 athletics. The UND/USD adds never made sense to anyone with a brain.

Yup. He needed to have locked down USD first, since the Sioux weren't welcome in the Summit at the time.

Neither made sense, but at least if both had been added, it would have been one trip for Olympic Sports.

That rat bastard did manage to wrangle Idaho back to the BSC so at least one of his awful ideas came to fruition.

With SUU's departure, I'm glad to see the BSC will be at 10/12.

When WAC football collapsed, where else was Idaho going to go than the Big Sky? I don't think Fullerton gets any credit for that. Plus, how big an asset is Idaho anyway?

Foolerton played a role (albeit a small one) in limiting the WAC's FB options when they were initially raided 12ish years ago. Once the WAC couldn't backfill with FCS programs, the writing was on the wall for Idaho. It's not about what Idaho's options where post WAC collapse, but options to keep WAC FBS alive pre-collapse.

Yes, you got me there. 03-banghead I'm an NAIA guy, FCS is really off my radar.

But I know Cal Baptist from the old days, and I know they considered football before going D2. And actually, having USD, Davis and Cal Poly in FCS just makes it all the more attractive because there will be close OOC games to schedule. And still, there are far more athletes in California than the existing California teams can accommodate.

Cal Baptist wants to be the Liberty of the West. They need football to do that.

No, no one from San Luis Obispo will cop to being in Southern California. Strictly speaking, Santa Barbara, San Luis and Monterey Counties are "Central Coast". I know if you look at a map they are in the southern part of the state, but SLO identifies more with Monterey, San Jose and San Francisco.

Looking from the outside it seems like NAU would be one of the better choices for a fourteenth member. IMO.

This. The division of where SoCal ends and NorCal begins is always an interesting topic among CA natives. I grew up in San Diego, NorCal clearly starts once you cross Trestles.

Another TX FB school puts the WAC at a 7/7 split. The WAC will be wise to take the best TX candidate available.

Everything points to West Texas A&M being that pick.

There is no football in Southern California positioned between D3 and FBS, lots of athletes, and the closest FBS venue is the Rose Bowl, which is a hour away from Riverside on the best of days, and probably closer to 2.5 hours on game day.

University of San Diego is an FCS school

Ok, True. Doesn't really change the math though. 1 FCS-non-scholarship competitor instead of 0 FCS competitors.

Aren't UC-Davis and Cal Poly in FCS?

Yes, you got me there. 03-banghead I'm an NAIA guy, FCS is really off my radar.

But I know Cal Baptist from the old days, and I know they considered football before going D2. And actually, having USD, Davis and Cal Poly in FCS just makes it all the more attractive because there will be close OOC games to schedule. And still, there are far more athletes in California than the existing California teams can accommodate.

Cal Baptist wants to be the Liberty of the West. They need football to do that.

First they need to enroll 100,000 people to take worthless on-line courses paid for by the Federal Government, then have a President that has a Pool Boy.

Next Stop - FBS!
