Amazon responds to Parler’s lawsuit, calls it ‘meritless’ and cites content advocating violence

Take a read through Amazon's response...it details a snippet of the despicable threats of violence allowed on the Parler platform. Bottom line...Parler is screwed. Amazon had every right under the contract to tell them to go pound sand.

Quote:Over the next seven weeks, AWS reported more than 100 additional representative pieces of content advocating violence to Parler’s Chief Policy Officer, including:

“Fry’em up. The whole fkn crew. #pelosi #aoc #thesquad #soros #gates#chuckschumer #hrc #obama #adamschiff #blm #antifa we are coming for you and you will know it.”

“#JackDorsey … you will die a bloody death alongside Mark Suckerturd[Zuckerberg].… It has been decided and plans are being put in place. Remember the photographs inside your home while you slept? Yes, that close. You will die a sudden death!”

“We are going to fight in a civil War on Jan.20
th
, Form MILITIAS now and acquire targets.”

“On January 20th we need to start systematicly [sic] assassinating [sic] #liberalleaders, liberal activists, #blm leaders and supporters, members of the #nba #nfl#mlb #nhl #mainstreammedia anchors and correspondents and #antifa. I already have a news worthy event planned.”

“Shoot the police that protect these shitbag senators right in the head then make the senator grovel a bit before capping they ass.”

AWS hosts Twitter (at least partially from what I can tell). The Rose City Antifa page has several calls for violence and rampant doxxing in the conversations.

There are still calls for violence and doxxing (complete with threats) on several of the antifa twitter thread.

And?

Did they get reported...were the offenders put in timeout requiring them to delete the posts...were they eventually banned from the platform? If so, it's apples and oranges if Parler was not doing this.

Who do you think you are fooling? The calls for violence on Twitter dwarf those on Parlor.

Twitter hosts a #KillTrump hashtag. In all of the glorious English language there is no clearer, plainer, or shorter way to call for violence than the word kill followed by someone’s name. But there it is. One of these tweets reads “#ArrestTrump not enough #KillTrump.” And this isn’t new, back in June the hashtag #AssassinateTrump was bouncing around the website with gems like “Someone take this clown out NOW.” That tweet is still up.

There is a Twitter account that calls itself “Pigs In A Blanket, Fry Em Like Bacon,” a call to kill police that is also found in myriad tweets. There is currently a tweet up from the day of the Capitol riots that reads “I hope the Trumpers out there all die of Covid. When Congressman elect Luke Letlow did die with Covid there were tweets celebrating or calling it justice.

Antifa, which engaged in riots all summer in Portland has several Twitter accounts that they use to organize. In July a left wing Portland journalist tweeted during a riot, “Heads up all, it looks like Andy Ngo is here.” Author and Antifa critic Ngo has been physically assaulted by the group. Clearly she knew she was putting him danger.

The point is that Twitter is a cesspool of threats of violence, but takes little notice unless they come from conservative voices that threaten their power and their bottom line. This idea that Twitter is acting in the interest of the community or promoting healthy discourse with its censorship is absurd. Twitter acts in one and only entity’s interests: Its own.

And while Trump’s alleged calls for violence, in fact he explicitly called for peaceful protest, got him banned, the Ayatollah Khamenei tweeted this in November, “. . . Palestine will be free, while the fake Zionist regime will perish. There’s no doubt about this.” So encouraging a completely legal challenge to election results gets our President banned, but the leader of Iran’s brutal state threatening to wipe out Israel is no problem at all.

Oops.

lol...you could probably make a list that size just on the Democrat comments on any Trump tweet. Twitter is a cesspool. The famous 2017 Twitter image of Kathy Griffin holding a severed Trump head was removed by Kathy herself after negative public backlash. Twitter did nothing even after being informed the Secret Service was investigating the twitter image. The only accounts they ever censor are Republican/Conservative figures. Its the same on Facebook. I mean, social media is essentially digital proof that the number of twisted folks out there is far higher than most of us would think. All these social media services have the same issue. This lawsuit revolves around the question of Amazon treating Parler differently than other similar clients. The information presented in the response means nothing by itself.

If we're going to have a free country, not just one where one political party is favored, it needs to be. But the Dems aren't making it easy.

This is a ridiculous statement. Just like calling the capitol protestors "terrorists." It's insanely over the top. It's not sedition or an insurrection. It was a non-violent protest featuring trespassing. A form of civil disobedience. It is incredibly mild in nature when compared to the sustained violence from the left in major cities all summer which included arson of police vehicles and precincts, attacks with weapons and resulted in dozens of deaths.

The reason why the MSM and politicians are calling it "terrorism" because they want to use the name as a weapon against the capitol protestors. Get ready for Biden to roll out a Patriot Act 2.0, but this time targeting domestic dissent.

Non-violent? 5 people are dead and another committed suicide a couple days later. There were a couple dozen police officers hurt IIRC. Did you not see the video of one of them clubbing a cop over the head with a metal pole...or the guy who threw a fire extinguisher that hit a cop in the head? Or the cop, with the bloody face that was caught in that door and screaming as the "civil" protesters pushed forward?

Dude, you do know there were armed people right? They found 2 pipe bombs. They found a stash of Molotov cocktails nearby. There was at least one guy with zip tie handcuffs. There's several active FBI investigations into planned conspiracies. They erected a noose and gallows on the Capitol grounds, and they stopped our democracy from certifying the next president of the united states for several hours.

STOP DISMISSING THIS BY ******* COMPARING IT TO BLM PROTESTS!!! They're both wrong.

There was absolutely violence and sedition at BLM rallies (guns shots, police beaten, people killed, Federal property illegally entered, buildings burned, bombs found, etc). Hell, BLM went further by actually claiming they were a new nation and created an "independent zone" where people got KILLED..

So STOP pretending the same kind of violence didnt happen all summer at BLM rallies. It did----and most conservatives were as appalled by that as we are by the Capital riot. We are calling it the same thing because IT IS THE SAME THING. Good grief you are a lost soul.

They were not there to overthrow our country which the Trump buddies that stormed the Capitol Hill building. They were looking to kill democrats and Republicans alike. The reason Trump was banned becaused he was sharing their lies on Twitter. We do not want our country turned into another Iran.

Good Lord David---BLM literally attacked a Federal court house, federal officers, burned US flags, overran a police station, killed police officers, and declared independence in several areas. So yeah---I agree---we DONT want our country to be like 1980's Lebanon. BOTH the right and left have violent elements that have totally lost their minds. So sorry, but like it or not---this is just the same crap that has been going on FOR MONTHS--the only difference is that is has now spread to a cause on the right. It is the same unacceptable crap and it has to stop.

I guess it depends on what you mean by censorship. This isn't government censorship and its not a First Amendment issue. This, as I see it at least, is about private companies refusing to do business with another company whose policies they disagree with. You're still free to create your own system and bulletin board that advocates the policies you agree with. Neither the government nor anyone else is preventing you or me from doing that.

Again, this argument could go back to the bakery being forced to bake the wedding cake because the bakery can't violate constitutional rights.

If a bakery can't violate constitutional rights, then why can a social media violate constitutional rights?

Very good argument indeed, and I think it comes down to a couple of key facts here. First, Social Media can be considered a private entity, because they require you to sign up, unlike the bakery, you don't have to sign up for anything. Second, first amendment is only protected when you are speaking out against the government. But this is just my opinion and probably spitballing here.

I am not a big fan of what they are doing and I think its hypocritical of them to do so, but their actions will have consequences.

RE: Parler
Some of Parler's issues in getting back up are likely the talent level of their staff. They were not mature enough to have real recovery procedures in place. They are probably gone forever.
