RE: Liz Cheney-traitor
I have heard the "death" of the Republican party or the "death" of the Democrat party hundreds of times and it has never happened and it won't. They need each other and work together to ensure they are the only options when you vote. With the exception of a few Republicans and a few Democrats the two parties are the same. They argue on a few issues to give the impression they are on opposing sides when all along they both have the same goal. Power and money.

You've seen the last Republican president.

If that is true, and you may be right, it will not be good for this country. Mark my words.

The idiots don't realize that one party rule = communism. Or maybe they do realize it and are all on board with it.

It's not one party rule. There will be a MAGA party and an AOC party.

The ones who are not bought off are the ones who are ridiculed. Called crazy. Called conspiracy believers. Called racist by those who are bought off. Unfortunately for this country the MSM are bought off as well. All we need is what the founders felt was absolutely essential to freedom. A free and unbiased media.

Most of the country is the low information crowd. Directly because of a media that has chosen sides. No honest clear thinking person could disagree with that, could they?

He assembled a protest which is a Constitutionally defended right. Perhaps hundreds of thousands.

And if you look at the timeline in the other thread, the people who broke in did NOT listen to him. They weren't at his speech.

Go the the Capitol and cheer for our side is a completely patriotic speech.

The Democrats have actively encouraged rioting and nobody even criticized them.

Impeaching President Trump for this is not only dangerous in stirring up the crazies, but it is dangerous in that it makes impeachment a joke to be used for partisan political purposes.

There's simply no basis for anyone who looks at this rationally. Impeachment is an irrational, impulsive, emotional reaction by a bunch of politicians who are suddenly scared of citizens they have been deningrating and ignoring for the last 30 years.

I'm so confused by all this "RINO" talk.

I assume most folks who are calling folks RINO'S support Trump.

You realize, Trump is the biggest RINO out there, literally Republican in name only. Much for of a moderate Dem.

His trade policies and agreements are more closely aligned with Bernie Sanders.

His crime/prison reform policies that were passed were ideas blocked by Republican congressmen.

Outside of lip service to abortion and religion, he really hasn't done anything substantial.

His supreme court picks have not been right leaning ideologues.

He was the first president elected with the belief that the gays can get married.

His foreign policy is much more libertarian than republican.

Essentially, the only things he did that were more favored by republicans would be increasing border security and cutting taxes for corporations.

I wouldn't equate MAGA and the Tea Party. They have very different goals and objectives, although both have contempt for the DC establishment. And the original TEA Party has gotten badly corrupted by the RINO establishment, who badly needed something to hang their hats on after 2008.

The original TEA Party stood more for economic and personal liberty. It basically arose out of bipartisan opposition to the bank bailouts in 2008. MAGA is more confrontational and anti-swamp.

Saw an article last week. Tea Party gets maligned by the Democrats who somehow never understood it. This guy talked about the contrasts. The Tea Party went to DC in SUVs or flew. He never met one who was not polite. They were upper middle class. They cleaned up all the litter. This group was lower middle class. The peed on the trees..... Its a very different group.

But the people who are more quick to abandon the party are usually the people who call other Republicans RINOs. The cut off your nose to spite your face Pat Buchanan types.

It's confusing, because basically it seems the right wing folks who get mad that a rebublican doesn't agree with EVERY SINGLE tenet of what a conservative is "supposed" to believe becomes a RINO the minute they don't keep in 100% lock step.

Bill Lee in TN becomes a RINO (even though he's VERY conservative) because he wouldn't oppose refugee resettlement in TN.

Tate Reeves, another pretty damn conservative guy, is called a RINO because he authorized a mask mandate for MS.

Basically, these folks sound like the same-but opposite to the left wing Progressives who demand a "with us or against us" attitude towards left or moderate dems.

But, again, it circles back to Trump. No one seems to turn on him for being a RINO. He has put forth several policies and has personal beliefs that would easily brand him a RINO or even a moderate Dem.

He just made it a point to expose (or tried to) the hypocrisy that is the Washington political/bureaucratic class.

In the end......it’s those folks that destroyed him. They don’t like being exposed.

With that said, I’ll take a more conservative politician over the loony left any day......

RE: Liz Cheney-traitor
Quote:Six House Republicans on Tuesday introduced a resolution to censure President Trump over his role in stoking last week’s violent riots at the U.S. Capitol and efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election.

The group, led by Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-Pa.), argued that a censure was the most effective way to punish Trump, arguing that the current impeachment effort being waged in the House over the violence is likely to result in the president’s acquittal in the Senate and could further divide a significantly fractured nation.

“President Trump’s attempts to undermine the outcome of the 2020 election have been unconscionable. The combination of a false information campaign coupled with inflammatory rhetoric led to the devastation that I was a personal witness to on the House Floor on Jan. 6. His actions threatened the integrity of our democracy, Congress, and his own vice president. For months, President Trump has been lying to the American people with false information, and giving his supporters false expectations. The election is over,” said Fitzpatrick.

“I believe censuring the president after his actions helps hold him accountable and could garner wide bipartisan support, allowing the House to remain united during some of our nation’s darkest days,” added Rep. Young Kim (R-Calif.). “Like many of my colleagues, I came to Washington promising to bridge the divide. I hope both parties can acknowledge our role in perpetuating division and come together to support this effort and move forward for our constituents and the nation.”

GOP Reps. John Curtis (Utah), Peter Meijer (Mich.), Tom Reed (N.Y.) and Fred Upton (Mich.) joined Fitzpatrick and Kim in introducing the resolution.

The big problem I see with the term RINO is who knows what a non-RINO republican is any more.

Republicans used to be pro-growth, balanced budget, strong military, non-interventionist, and basically neutral on a lot of social issues. The neocons got them into an interventionist foreign policy mode and they along with evangelicals got them into a socially conservative mode. Neither party (other than maybe Bill Clinton at one time) has given a whit about fiscal responsibility in decades.

I would consider the neocons to be the true RINOs.

Anybody who supports that resolution should be primaried out and given no prime committee assignments.

There are things you can criticize him for, but the bold is simply repeating DNC talking points that are not true.

Most Republicans believe there was significant fraud in the election. This acts as if nothing is wrong.
