I look forward to the day when the CEO of facebook and twitter is conservative and turns all censorship rules on the liberals.

RE: Big tech-now Amazon tries to silence Parler
With Trump's ban on Facebook and Twitter and Parler's loss to Apple, Google, and hosting by Amazon, I suspect there will be blowback. I don't know where it will come from but this will be used against big tech firms.

RE: Big tech-now Amazon tries to silence Parler
Amazon decided to kick it off their cloud because of their content.
Imagine if your business had a bad employee pull something. They could kick your business off just the same.
Google and Apple pulled the Parler APP from their app stores as well. Same issue here.
The government has government cloud services on Amazon. I guess if the government does something amazon doesn't like they can shut down that down too.

Are we starting to see how bad that argument is now?
You might be surprised what IS being done.

Which is worse, the above or that the GOP is the party of capitalism and still allowed most of these mergers of the last 30 years?

They are both the parties of power. Republicans think they get power by doing nothing. Democrats think they get power by never letting a crisis go to waste.

While true, I pin that more on the GOP as they should be well versed in the hows and whys capitalism fails.

Defending free speech & speaking out against monopolies and big corporations used to be huge deal to the left. Look how far they have departed from that. Now suppression of speech and weaponizing big monopolies are at the top of their agenda.
I don't believe anything the republicans on capital hill say. As many have already pointed out here, they feign concern for these things in front of the camera but they have done NOTHING for years but fill their pockets and now look where we are.

Both parties are equally guilty as a whole. Every law and regulation put in place serves to limit competition in the marketplace. Even if they look on paper to be anti-business, the large corporations love them (they can afford the high costs of compliance and thus gain market share). To Trump's credit, he has worked to reverse that to the chagrin of the GOP establishment (hence Trump). Right now, blue state dems (mostly but not exclusively) are using Covid-19 as an excuse for shutting down small businesses left and right. Large corporations for the most part are doing fine.
