I know it will never catch on with big internet carriers but...

Internet Carriers BLOCK FB and Twitter

RE: Facebook has crossed the final line for me
I finally did it, I'm free from the clutches of FB and their totalitarianism. I cancelled my account and I can't remember who showed me here how to do it. Thanks, it was easier than if I tried to do it alone, I just followed your very easy instructions.

RE: Facebook has crossed the final line for me
So...you are upset a private platform has the ability to ban people who say things on the platform that a moderator doesn't like or that violates an agreed upon terms of usage?

So you must be upset that a private baker has to bake a cake for someone he doesn't like.

And... A private platform that has federal exclusionary protections. That would be having cake and eating it..... (no pun intended)

RE: Facebook has crossed the final line for me
I called a friend a silly goose on FB a week or so back.. I was given a warning for bullying and that was strike two for me.. The other occured in April when they found a post I made shortly after Coach O was made head coach at LSU and I posted a meme to a buddy's FB page.. Dang near two years prior... I appealed it.. They're still mulling it over...

Last week I saw a post by Zuck go up about unity and diversity.. I reported it saying it offended me.. I was told I couldn't report his posts, ha.

You're moving goalposts.

I am literally comparing apples to apples.

FB and csnbbs are private web accessed platforms that require a person to sign up and agree to terms of service, including the fact that person can be kicked off the platform for violating any parts of an AUP, or literally "just because." There is no governmental/constitutional freedom to post on csnbbs or FB or twitter.

The cake thing is different. Just like it's against the law to refuse to sell your house to a black person, some courts have found that the gays have protected rights like blacks, old folks, crippled people, and the other stuff protected in the Civil Rights Act.

Sounds like you have some FB "friends" who are reporting you for bullying.

Facebook is totally within their rights to do that. And I'm totally within mine to say banning Ron Paul for his political speech is incredibly stupid and reeks of an extreme political agenda. And I'm also totally within mine to delete all my things on Facebook and shut down my account and leave. And I'm also free to post here about how incredibly stupid that was of Facebook.

None of these items are contradictory. Perhaps you just don't understand freedom very well.

Nope. It was as soon as I hit post I got the warning.. So unless they have ESP, doubt it. Nice try though.

Nah, I clearly understand it.

I even previously explained what you wrote.

I was just interested how you seem to be "over" facebook because they are doing exactly what other platforms/message boards do all the time.

Except FB and twitter don't throw out pain train posts.

Completely withing their purview.

(Edit) I guess your are referring to the "getting anti-trusted" for a different reason (acquisition of other social media platforms) not for removing people from the platform.

Banning is fine in the abstract. But in the concrete the why and the intent matter. It's difficult to find positive explanation for Facebook's actions on the why and the intent fronts. What, was this week's lecture on the Constitution too radical for Zuck?

And the anti-trust fist coming at FB is over monopolistic control of market forces. If you are a local business and FB bans you for your political speech you're not just prevented from forwarding stupid images to other people's friend feeds ... now you're cut off from business referral via Facebook as well. It's a real problem.

Rand Paul could be one of those to be expelled from the Senate who tried to overturn a result of a fair election. People like him are being told by other Republicans that he needs to resign.

There's another board I post on and I was trying to ignore this really obnoxious poster, but it didn't seem to stick. Then I realized why. He was a moderator.

So how is Facebook free to apply double standards to Rand Paul and still enjoy the protections of section 230?
