RE: Matt Lewis scoring record watch
Regardless of the level of comp a very efficient game for Matt today. 28 points on 28 minutes 10 for 12 and 6 for 8 from 3.

Unless injured, or a portion of the season is paused, he will break the record.

His biggest threat is losing more games.

Jinxing I know but Lewis has been very durable especially for a guy who takes some hits and plays big minutes. Bodes well for his professional career.

Matt has quickness, talent, and size to move up. The key will be to increase his mid and long range shooting %. He's just not there for the NBA. Now overseas he'll have a options even if he does not improve.

Matt can return for a 5th year of eligibility next year if he chooses to do so, yes? Just curious.

Believe the short answer is yes, but here are the details. Part of this also seems to be up to the discretion and funding of the school and conference.

Matt Lewis ranked 6th in the country in scoring points per game at 22.5

https://www.ncaa.com/stats/basketball-me...vidual/136

Amadi is #2 in the country in field goal % but is not showing up on the NCAA Statisstics list for some reason (there are guys on there w/ less shots taken than he has taken)

RE: Matt Lewis scoring record watch
The guy in first (Stacy Beckton Jr at American) only has one game listed in the stats, though he played a second yesterday and only scored 12. That drops his average from 30 to 21. Taking Beckton out for now, here are Lewis's quick stats compared to the other guys. Apologies for the formatting mess.

Player Position School Points Rebounds Assists FG%
Matt Lewis G JMU 22.5 5.1 4.3 52.6
Loren Cristian Jackson G Akron 22.6 2.1 7.0 43.8
Luka Garza C Iowa 26.9 8.7 1.6 62.5
Justin Jaworski G Lafayette 23.0 5.0 2.2 52.7
Isiaih Mosley F Mo St 23.5 5.5 3.4 59.5

RE: Matt Lewis scoring record watch
Matt is not that far from the top 200-250 all time in the NCAA.

Do I think it's likely he makes the top 250? No, but he's not as far away as I would of expected before I checked.

With yesterday’s game factored in Matt Lewis Player Efficiency Rating is now over 30. Right where Grant Rillers was last season and slightly better than Justin Wright Foreman’s the year prior. Those are the last two Caa guards who won POY and then were selected in the NBA draft.

Yes, although I don't think he would barring some other event. If he did come back he could be in the Elvin Hayes, Larry Bird, Oscar Robertson range of top 16 all time scorers.

Lewis is off to a phenomenal start this season. He is either leading the team or tied for the lead in several major categories:
.522% FG
.423% 3ptFG%
5.1 rebounds
4.3 assists
Also leads in blocks (4), is 2nd in steals, 1st in assist/turnover ratio, 2nd in FT% (of players w/ at least 10 attempts) and leads in minutes played.

Very impressive. Might even warrant its own thread. NBA teams should take notice.

I've been impressed how he has become more of a team player (IMHO) this year. Kudos to Matt and Coach B for that. That would benefit Matt with additional options as a professional.

Yup. I’ve noticed that too (I think) could just be that he’s more comfortable with some of the new guys that he doesn’t think he has to do it all by himself. That will make the entire squad better, I hope.

Better complimentary players- a high percentage finish guy inside, Morse and Hodge are better complimentary pieces than Parker and Banks.

Thanks for sharing. A great interview/article with Steve in the DNR today as well. I’m with Steve and hope Matt gets the record.

I will listen to some of the podcasts on there, especially Steve’s and Linton Townes.
