I'm not buying the homesick bull****. I left my hometown (Chicago) that was 600 miles from Memphis for 5 years plus, and they were some of the best years of my life. I left my girlfriend of three years, my parents, my sisters, my buddies, etc. etc. I would do it all over again. Homesick??? GTFOH!

You made you decision and he made his. Why are you so upset that his is different than yours? Not everybody can hope to be as smart as you are.

Would you rather be a bench player on a top 10 team or the go to guy on a top 25 team?

He was on the bench working his way back into the lineup. He was the pre-season player of the year.

Apparently not.

I'm just tired of all these quitters. Being a quitter with a Dear John letter has become fashionable.

You sign a contract to play for someone. You should honor it. You can't have one sided contracts. They don't work.

I sign a contract for a specified period of time. For that I get compensation guaranteed for that time. If they rif-ed me I get paid for the remainder of that contract. If I quit, I can't work for a competitor for a year.

Both sides are protected. If a coach leaves, then the player should be allowed to go elsewhere.

They are playing by the rules as allowed by the schools. Tough break for you that you don't like it. Consider it part of that "new normal" the media is trying to force down our throats. So you better get used to it because it's about to get worse. A lot worse.

So what if the player works his ass off but just is not good enough...Should the coach be able to run him off. It works both ways.

If a kid just isn't good enough, but has been a good teammate, I don't think you can run him off.

If the kid is a bad apple, I think you should be able to tell him to hit the bricks. There should be some kind of 'due cause' protection for that. Isn't there some kind of arrangement like that now? I really don't know.

There are no protections in our conference...Scholarships are 1 year deals.

So if a coach can get rid of player because he has better options a player should be able to take advantage of better options as well.

We are witnessing the death throes of college sports. Too much money for it to die quickly, but it's definitely dying.
