THANKS MARSHAL!

At least now you might pick up a win this weekend. So that should help rather than losing to Marshall 2x.

Yes, we are scaredy-cats, and we cancelled because we are afraid of the Mighty Marsha...wait a minute, we aren't the ones that cancelled.

Charlotte looked and played like a good team, I do believe WKU would have won both against the 49ers if Bassey was at full strength..... but that’s on WKU for not picking up his slack while he was down

The good thing for the Green is that UTSA appears to still just be Jackson (who is on fire tonight), Wallace (who is having a rough game) and a bunch of spares. Can't overlook the fact that Jackson can win games by himself though.

North Texas 77
UTSA 70
Final

UTSA roared back and nearly tied it with plenty of time and all the momentum and then inexplicably switched to Hack-A-Simmons. He made almost all the free throws and UTSA and Jackson lost their momentum. I really think the Runners win this one if they don't intentional foul with so much time left.

Tops survive an anemic offensive showing behind 24 pts, 17 rbs, and 4 blks from Chuck to squeak away 66-64. Missed 3 of our final 4 foul shots and Tech missed a 3 at the horn.

Toppers escaped this one at home 66-64. Neither team shot the ball very well. Thankfully Bassey was in beast mode (24 and 17) otherwise this is a loss. La Tech probably deserved this one but sometimes you pull one out you don't deserve.

Rough game, Bassey is going to need more help tomorrow night, our guards were awful.

UTEP finishes off the night for CUSA with a 101-89 win over Rice. Some entertaining games tonight. Round 2 tomorrow.

Man, Jackson is fun to watch. If he and Wallace are both on it’s tough for anyone to win. Relying on one or two great players is tough to make a championship team out of but can end a championship teams season come tourney time.

Are we that bad or did we get their best? FAU certainly looked better than their record.

Lets hope the NBA scout(s) is at Diddle tomorrow. Bassey seems to show up in beast mode when its against a P5 or another top center or NBA scouts are at the game. Other wise sometimes he's a pussycat

Most Western/Tech games, are like this one, ugly as hell and close at the end. I think we see another one tomorrow. Hopefully Tay gets on his game a lot earlier, with Bassey, Frampton hitting 2 or 3 threes

He is a really good scorer. Good thing UTSA hasn't put enough other pieces around him. Too bad today's game isn't on TV. I hate watching on ESPNU+. North Texas put in a pedestrian kind of game last night. I hope they play a little more inspired today.

Despite getting quite a few blocks on Jackson's shots last night, he still put up 26. Imagine him on another team. He is incredible.

Two years ago we beat them 96-88 at home. In that game Jackson had 46 and Wallace had 26.

Two nights later they won at Marshall 116-106 in OT. In that game Jackson had 30 and Wallace had 45.

So for that road trip as sophomores Jackson averaged 38 a game and Wallace averaged 35.5 a game.

I’ve never seen anything like it. Jackson kind of reminds me of a poor man’s Chris Jackson aka Mahmoud Abdul Rauf. That Jackson is one of my all time favorite players. He used to TORCH UK. Me being a hater, that warmed my heart every time. I started wearing an LSU hat to work every night that I wasn’t wearing a Western hat. Just to make the UK fans annoyed. Plus the fact that I loved Dale Brown as a coach. One of my all time favorite college basketball coaches.

Those are big points, but UNT wasn't double teaming him. I think the Mean Green could have done some things to cut down on his scoring, but McCasland was content to let Murray (a walk on) guard him most of the night, and not let him get the other players involved. So, while he put up points, the Runners were very one dimensional for most of the game. In contrast, UNT had multiple players scoring. To me it seemed like UNT was playing on cruise control for most of the game.
