RE: Unofficial 2021 Football Recruiting Thread
I'm assuming our only priority position is LB. Would like to have one or two more. Trying to 'game' this out:

1). Nasir Kemper - solid G5 prospect from OKLA. Good 3-star player. We had offered earlier. Committed and then de-commited (12/10/2020) from North Texas. Assume he is still on our radar.

https://247sports.com/player/nasir-kemper-46094306/

2). Darryan Moss - another solid 3-star G5 prospect from Okla.

https://247sports.com/player/darryan-moss-46099956/

3). Jacoby Leatherwood - another solid 3-star G5 prospect (from TENN). No vibes on his recruitment. No clues what's up with him.

https://247sports.com/Recruitment/Jacoby...Interests/

BTW, here is Rivals.com. Penn State took the top 3 LBs from the Detnews 'Dream Team" and also from Rivals top MI players. Rivals has Reed as a S, not LB. Doesn't have LB size.

https://n.rivals.com/state_rankings/2021/michigan

BTW, this list is worth looking at. about 30 OKLA seniors. We recruited a number of them and a few are at schools where we signed players. Lot of LBs.

e.g.., Heritage Hall which is Swindle's school plus another LB recruit.

Great idea how about this one for starters who just entered the portal?

Detroit guys don't seem to do real well at CMU. Best of luck to him.

McElwain is the master of the portal. He is the only MAC guy who has been a head coach in the Power 5 in the last 17 years. He can relate to these kids and personally explain why the fall from grace to the Group of Five route ain't all that bad. Creighton, Candle, Lester, etc... cannot. Death threat Jim also seems far more willing to take a chance on questionable guys than his nearby rivals.

Jerry, I'm GUESSING but maybe his contacts in the wonderful world of P5 football maybe helpful.

What we don't know is that guidance that a P5 coach give to the player who is transferring out. Does he say, "I know Coach McE. He is a solid coach. A winner"?

Dear steve and Jerry,
How many players can "Death Threat" McElwain promise to be starters? Or is he promising them they can use drugs and not get caught? I wouldn't play for him if he were the last football coach alive.

Ken it is indeed a business decision. At the end of the day, it boils down to what you consider to be the most salient issue to your program. McElwain is going to to get P5 stud castoffs, they will play ahead of established committed team members, but he will WIN games. If that is what we need to do, I will accept a lesser W-L record.

Dear Jerry,
I agree with you on the Eastern part of your statement, but I think, if you only bring in transfers to play ahead of people who have worked to get to a starting position, you are going to have discord, and players won't necessarily give it their all. So, will they win games, or lose them?

Apparently we have a verbal from Ben Bryant. I know almost nothing of him.

https://247sports.com/Article/Cincinnati...156482329/

EDIT: Apparently he is a grad transfer from Cincy. QB with experience.

His dad was a EMU HURON.

He is listed as a sophomore. Could have 3 more years of eligibility.

EMU was looking at a lot of transfer QB'S non seniors. Bryant was a commit to Wisconsin, then they dropped him for Chase Wolf. Looks like EMU was looking at BC transfer Sam Johnson. Not sure if they preferred Bryant or if Johnson passed on EMU.

Wow. Quite an offer list he had out of high school: Georgia, Wisconsin, Ole Miss, WVU, etc.

Both Bryant and Johnson are definitely P5 QBs.

I would happily take either.

RE: Unofficial 2021 Football Recruiting Thread
It was sort of a big story when he was a committ to Wisconsin and tweeted that he received an offer from Georgia. Wisconsin then told him they dropped his offer since he tweeted about receiving an offer from another program, even though others have done the same. It was likely because they preferred Wolf, who then committed.

Interesting the both of his parents are EMU alums. I'm a big fan of Hutch but there will be plenty of competition. Wonder if this means that last year's grad transfer won't be at EMU after all.

Can we trade two QBs for a DT or a LB. 03-lmfao
