That's a riot. TBH, with the economy the way it is and universities getting slammed with financial losses of tens of millions of dollars or more, I don't really foresee too many D2 schools jumping up to D1 in the near future. The other way around is much more likely.

Matt Brown is an idiot. He said 18 months ago for that podcast, but it was late September of 2020 that the ad at West Texas A&M mentioned on going to D1.

Says the guy that “predicts” Upper Iowa to D1 and Drury to the Big East.

"Mentioning" and "Having concrete plans" are not equal.

A "mention" could be answering a question like "Would you like to be a D-I school some day?" With "Sure, if the opportunity arises, we'd explore it."

That does not equate to "We have secured the funding and have school approval to move to D-I."

Every time you see "SCHOOL NAME" within nine paragraphs of the words "DIVISION" and "ONE" you overreact.

It seems like while he hasn't been perfect, Matt Brown has been pretty solid on his realignment info, and does have some sources within schools athletic departments

This board would be a lot less fun without David. I agree, I've actually learned about more jerkwater schools than I ever dreamed.

Keep on Daviding, David.

I agree. David adds unique flavor to the board. I rarely agree with him but so what. We'd be worse off without him.

Good lord, "the long-term goal of the league is to elevate the WAC back to FBS football later this decade."

Capacity:

Abiline: 12,000
Dixie: 10,000
Lamar: 16,000
Sam Houston: 12,593
Stephen F: 14,575
Tarleton: 10,000
Southern Utah: 8,500

It's great to have ambition and all, but how will that happen? Those schools belong in FCS.

Also, when is Grand Canyon going to start a football team and play at Cardinals Stadium?

He just loves realignment really . He has talked about several schools moving down. While adding schools people that live in that town never heard of moving up.The Big Ten needs Colorado Messa to add revenue . The MAC is not happy with Ball St replace them with Indiana St for more revenue ?

I guess. But if you have sources inside athletic departments AND you are selling a subscription service AND using platforms like this to advertise, its not like the rest of us. We're here as fans and for the fun. Matt Brown is here to sell stuff. I'd rather have a chuckle over all of the characters who come here for fun than have people trying to be accurate so they can try to sell us subscriptions.

Yes, that goal is laughable, but if it's what's bringing in the new dupes members, then it's in the WAC's interest to perpetuate it.

Yes, especially with obscure schools and conferences most of us never heard of. He doesn't seem to care much about whether FSU wants to join the SEC, but he gets all riled up about whether Eastern New Mexico Mining College or Colorado Panhandle State belong in the Lone Star Conference or the Fried Chicken Conference (I just made all of those up, I think) LOL.

It makes him maybe the purest poster on this board, as it is formally a "realignment" board.

Romantic, almost.

Who cares if a tycoon like FSU moves from one neighborhood of McMansions to another?

But if a pauper like Upper Iowa can move into the middle class? That's the American Dream.

I posted this in a new thread because I thought it was warranted but apparently the Operation: Return of the WAC has actually begun, officially:

Capacity is one thing, but have you actually looked at the stadiums? ACUs and Lamars are nice, the rest...... have some room for improvement.
