1. Establishment GOP prefers to be the party of obstruction. They will run on repeal/yada yada and will not provide solutions.
2. Trump's post election tirades turned off the suburbanites who prefer to talk politics with their neighbours how Trump is mean.
3. Mitch McConnell should have passed the checks...It clearly cost them votes in the rural counties of GA. Trumpers stayed home. Now the Dems will do $2K monthly, it would have been cheaper to bring the checks to a floor vote. Stupid.
I'm not going to take the time now, but it will be interesting to see if anyone does the analysis of the votes vs. November.
I haven't checked the senate race specifically, but Gwinnett County went about 55% for Biden, but in the special election went 60% Democrat. That 5% would put Perdue up 19,000 and cut Warnock's lead to 18,000.
What gets people out to vote? Enthusiasm or fear? Republicans were afraid. Democrats were enthused.

They're practically Jeb! If I were in Georgia I guess I'd vote for them today. But who on Earth would get excited about voting for either one of them?
Looks like I wasn't the only one. 4 in 10 voters viewed all 4 candidates as untrustworthy. Voter turnout was down.
The GOP ran Georgia's very own Jeb. And for the other candidate almost the exact stereotypical "wife of the rich guy in the country club who thinks she's a 10 when she's a 5." Loeffler even had the country club Karen haircut.
They're both awful as candidates. They're both guilty of insider trading. They're both not going to help the people of Georgia or freedom.
That Hank Johnson's metrosexual staffer and a preacher of hate could beat them shows:
- Just how awful the GOP candidates were
- Just how many people have moved specifically into metro Atlanta the last 8 years (in some cases, metro Atlanta counties are D+20 or higher since the 2014 election.)
The stuff about Loeffler doing insider trading is a vicious lie that would get you sued if she wasn't a politician. I'm VERY disappointed in you. Her husband runs the NYSE. They are under more scrutiny than anybody in the country. Why would they be doing insider trading on a senate briefing when they have inside information on everything? And the trading they did was small potatoes by their standards. They have strict restrictions and so they have an outsider do their trading. They aren't doing it themselves.
Perdue wasn't even at that briefing!!!! Feinstein, Perdue and Loeffler were all cleared of that slander by the Senate. And before you say it was a whitewash, Burr of NC was referred to the DOJ. He's in deep trouble.
I absolutely think she used pandemic knowledge via Congress to make money in the upheaval that resulted. If it makes you feel any better, I assume 90% of Congress -- both parties -- did the exact same thing.

Trump has redefined the GOP into what the vast majority of conservatives have been demanding from RINOs.
It will be interesting to watch how GOP primaries go down in 2 years.
My prediction is that Trump's hold on the GOP will steadily diminish over the next few months to years. Republicans basically pretended he didn't exist for the last four years. Now he's just going to be a rage-tweeting pundit. He has no discipline and his political operation just doesn't have the organizational skills or attention span to challenge 30+ seasoned senators over the next few years. Not to mention, he doesn't care about the work it takes to take on such a challenge, especially if he's not the guy on the ballot. He just doesn't care about that, he only cares about himself.
I am sure the MAGA right will have some success downing a few R's, but MAGA land have shown they are perfectly willing to lose winnable races by embracing their most crazy impulses (see: Georgia). And they will be up against competent politicians. If last night wasn't a wake up call, let me spell it out: the country is sick of Donald Trump and the insane people he surrounds himself with.
His theatrics cost R's Georgia (and control of the senate) and have revolted the middle and upper-middle class. The majority of the country thinks this stuff is crazy.
In other words, extreme MAGA are just like extreme conservative Republicans and extreme liberal Democrats. And water is wet.

What did you see from Democrats? Nothing but "I'm a nice guy" Warnock and lying attacks on the Republicans. Osoff threw some general stuff out about health care and a new voting rights act.
Come on isn't having Herschel Walker throw you a football enough of a well thought out political campaign with ideas, messaging, and solutions? I mean what can't be fixed by having Herschel Walker throw you a football?
That election was like ULM playing Kansas in football. Only I bet there's at least one quality player somewhere on that field. Last night it was all garbage.

My understanding from friends close enough to get the campaign ads on TV (Jacksonville) is that there were no issue ads. Given Warnock’s multiple out-and-out Marxist statements, that strikes me as political malpractice of the first order.

If I lived in GA I would have voted Loeffler. But I also would have voted HARD against her in the primary. Loeffler and Perdue are another Jeb/Lindsey Graham as far as I can tell.
I don't see the Jeb/Perdue correlation. Perdue tries to play the Bubba angle. And he always seems like he wants it more than Jeb. (and BTW, I like Jeb. I would have volunteered for him if he made it to Georgia. I think he would have been a great president).
Kelly had her talking points just like EVERY other politician out there. I would have liked to have seen her get off them a little more like she did when I saw her in "real life." But are you going to tell me that Biden and Trump WEREN'T vapid and Kelly was????
Warnock had easily the best media team, both in the primaries and in the general election. He had really good commercials. They got him elected in spite of who he was. He's going to make AOC look conservative.

The Democrat campaign was all about getting the Blacks out to vote for them. That was 90% of their commercials. This was a way to show them it was ok to vote Republican. And it was also an appeal to UGA grads. As a GT person, you obviously don't get his appeal. He's an icon. Democrats were doing character assassination and then Herschel says they are both ok.

No, I'm going to tell you Trump is a vapid blowhard and Biden doesn't even know where he is, which is perhaps appropriate for someone who spent a career with a finger firmly in the wind to judge direction and strength before taking a stand.

The point is Herschel tossing a football to Loeffler and Perdue while going "socialism bad!" doesn't win over voters. It was part of give or take $250,000,000 being flushed down the drain and into the hands of media conglomerates by the GOP in a failing attempt to help two very meh candidates across the finish line.
The GOP not only failed spectacularly it also massively enriched the media establishment in doing so.

Again, when do the real investigations start into this new fangled voter mobilization by Stacey Abrams.... everyone and their mother knows there were shenanigans in both the general and the special elections.

There were a large number of illegally cast votes discovered days ago. I forget the exact number, but not only did nothing happen to anybody, the votes weren't disqualified.

Warnock ran a bunch of feel good, I'm a nice guy ads. The Republicans ran ads showing him in the pulpit where's he's the opposite of what he appears to be in his ads.
"Noone can serve God and the military!"
Then there were the ads about him saying God would **** America (I'm guessing damn), that followed long running ones showing the lead preacher in his church saying God wouldn't bless America, he would say **** America (probably fu**) and him defending him.
There were ads about his church bringing in Fidel Castro to speak.
There were ads with him condemning police.
I don't remember any ads by Warnock saying what he would do except in very vague general terms, and those were rare. It was mostly I understand you and will represent you. They did have one with the angry Black woman who wanted her $2,000 check.
The DNC ads about insider trading were constant. Perdue and Loeffler had to run ads refuting them. Then the last couple of weeks there was the envy ad. David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler are millionaires. They aren't like you. They don't think like you. They don't spend like you. They have maids and butlers and private planes and multiple multi-million dollar beach houses (all while showing imagines of mansions). They don't want you to vote. They are happy as they are.

They cannot get it through their skulls that Trump won because he wasnt GOP or DC. Hell, he won in spite of them. He doesnt care about the Romney / Rubio types.
What both parties have wanted since Trump came into the picture.... the status quo back, concentrated power to the insiders of both parties.
And he is wrong, country club upper middle and beyond types absolutely love Trump.
