RE: 2020 CFB Coaches Fired
South Carolina axed Muschamp with four years remaining on his contract, with a buyout of $13.2 million. He also had been fired by Florida in November 2014 and had three years left on that deal. Muschamp gets a little walking change. Think about this his boss the AD Ray Tanner, South Carolina makes $900,000/yr. Muschamp will make 15X his boss' salary for not working.

Hopefully, Auburn has no principles nor moral compass like Liberty and we can get rid of Freeze.

I read a story this morning about him going to Liberty if the dominoes fall. When did Liberty become a high-profile job as the writer made it out to be? 07-coffee3

When they built beautiful stadium, started playing lots of P5 schools and winning some of those games, and cracked the top 25.

Briles is poison everywhere else. Hiring him would not be a sign of it being a high profile job. It would just mean they’ve chosen their direction as the new rehab center for wayward coaches.

Geez. Any particular reason for this?

I don't agree about his ways of going about things (taking non qualifiers), but the guy seems like a great coach and wins plenty of games.

That shows a lot of guts, and certainly aspiration to higher things when the best team in the conference (in spite of UAB winning the championship) fires the Coach of the Year. Flexing to show the AAC that they aspire for greater things and wont accept mediocrity perhaps? I sure wish we had Doc Holiday's "bad" performance recently.

It may come back to bite them like ECU/McNeil, or not. We'll see.

This is what it looks like when you are committed to elevating your program. Plateau = Time for change.

They have been at or around the same level for most of the last decade. That is pretty much the definition of plateau.

Getting better. It is really as simple as that. My philosophy on coaching changes is simpler than putting a number of a wins or milestones on success. It is simply, are we growing and getting better as a program. If the answer is a clear no, then it is time to make the next move. That will eventually lead to some downturns like ECU, but over the long haul, I believe that if you maintain that approach, and are pretty decent at hiring, you will find yourself in a better place than you would if you stick with the same coach who has done pretty well for the last 10 years, but has stopped getting better.
