Wonder if Herman will go to LSU as the OC.
Edit: or Alabama, I suppose

Well, Bloom should be able to recruit the round pegs to fit the round holes of his offense at Texas.
Sarkisian officially announced as next TexasU head coach.
Speculation was fun while it lasted.

I noted this comment to the 24/7 Sports article on today's coaching change in Austin:
AccountableLonghorn Wrote:This will be a dreadful hire. Look at the guy's record as a head coach. My family are UW Huskies. They called him 7 win Steve - where his record there plateaued- and were so relieved when he went to USC. So he's good at Alabama. What a shock. I'm sure it is Sark, not Saban, who created that programs annual success. Give me a break.
But there's this in the CBS Sports article 'Will Steve Sarkisian be an upgrade over Tom Herman? What Texas is getting in Alabama's offensive coordinator':
Quote:The main difference is that Sarkisian has gone through the Nick Saban coaching rehabilitation program. That might not seem like it's important, but learning from the greatest coach in the sport's history should not be minimalized. Saban helped mold Jimbo Fisher into a coach who eventually won a national championship, Kirby Smart into a three-time SEC East champion and 2017 SEC title winner at Georgia, Mark Dantonio into a Michigan State legend, Lane Kiffin into a responsible adult now leading Ole Miss, and several others into opportunities to succeed.
Sure, not all of Saban's pupils have succeeded. But many have, and that's a strong pedigree. It's certainly a stronger vote of confidence than the one Herman received from Texas athletic director Chris Del Conte.

That would be a very interesting move. And exactly the kind of thing Saban likes to do.

Lots of people have wanted him here a time or two in the past. With his severance, he could afford to do a turnaround to rebuild his reputation.
Would any of you want him here now?
Sure, what the hey...probably couldn't do much worse, right?

Perhaps due to the coaching change, or perhaps just because he figured 4 years of starting at QB at UT was enough, but Sam Ehlinger is declaring for the draft instead of returning to Austin next year. I guess Casey Thompson will be their starter next year when we play them?

Hasn't Ehlinger played 5 years of his 4-years of eligibility already? He must be at least 23 years old by now.

Fellas could dream, but why in the heck would they do that. Bloom's offense is atrocious. I wonder if Bloom is sweating, he's won 7 games in three years and Tom won 7 this year and his out.

Getting shut out, at home, by Rice, will do that.

Drew Svoboda headed to Memphis as their special teams coach. Replacing Pete Lembo (who left Rice for Memphis three years ago), who is going to South Carolina. Pretty damning when a guy who has lived, played and coached in the Houston and East Texas area his entire life leaves to go to Memphis.

Maybe he got tired of Texas BBQ and needed a change of pace?

Memphis BBQ? Ya gotta be kidding.
Different strokes for different folks.
Not endorsing that decision - I pine for good brisket out here in North Carolina.

Strength and Conditioning Coach Yancy McKnight will not be retained at UT, according to several reports.
