“I really didn’t talk to him that much,” Fields said. "I’d just talked to him when I got the offer. He was telling me how I was Memphis’ top priority and he understands how much Memphis loves me, but he was telling me about South Carolina and how it has a lot to offer and stuff like that and if I need anything, to keep in contact with him.

“He’s going to be a big help, because he’s coming from a program that I’m committed to, now he’s at the next program that I’m looking at as another option to go to school at, so he can kind of give me the best of both worlds and tell me what’s going on.”

Yes. South Carolina has access to better athletes but he wants to rob a smaller school with the chips stacked against us.

Currently Memphis is rated about twice as good a Class for 2021.

Memphis is currently ranked #48 & USC Cocks are #100.

Although it looks like Kolbe Fields will sign with USC. He was previously committed to Oklahoma St. so he's moved his recruitment around.

If I were three star linebacker Kolbe Fields, and assuming I like the head coaches at both schools about the same, I would ascertain whether I would have a better relationship with Memphis assistant coaches Bert Watts (linebackers) and Mike MacIntyre (Defensive Coordinator) or USC assistant coaches Mike Peterson (linebackers) and Travaris Robinson (Defensive Coordinator). These are the position coaches I will be spending most of my time with.

Worse than SC being a stepchild in the SEC, he has to stop the big dogs from UGA, FL just in the East, let alone the west rotation. Hard to shine in that environment, just look at UTK.

If a kid has a relationship with a coach recruiting him, and that coach leaves for another school, I don't have a problem with the relationship staying in tact. As long as the coach isn't bad mouthing the former school it's fair game. We have other options for his position/scholarship and he hasn't committed to SC yet. If he does, best of luck to him and we go get another player. And w/ the development of Jaylon Allen this year, it's an acceptable loss if he choses to go be a ****.
