RE: UTSA vs Owls MBB
Some really poor defense / lack of defense puts UTSA up 79-78

Mullin 1-4 from charity stripe is not helping. Now down 81 - 79 at 6:00 mark.

Any news on Ondigo? His size would be helpful and he looked athletic....

Evee with back-to-back 3s (now up to 34 points), and Rice leads 87 - 84 with 2:30 remaining.

Outrageous shotmaking from Evee and Olivari in the second half, and some good execution to get them the ball in good spots. Need to clamp down now.

Fiedler needs to learn how to use his body and be aggressive. We're getting nearly nothing in the paint despite opportunities. I'm also frustrated with ballhandlers failing to find him the many times he's rolled open to the bakset

Fielder has a team leading 11 boards and 8 assists, to go with his 12 points. He's definitely contributing.

Agreed. IB must be watching a different game.

Oh, he's playing quite well no doubt. There's a lot of room for growth though, esp for our interior passing

Did you see him last year? His progress has been very impressive.

I did not... great to hear. Certainly not ragging on the guy, he appears to be our most productive big by a factor of 5

RE: UTSA vs Owls MBB
Really good job closing it out. I've seen enough Rice teams not close games out to not take this for granted. 36 pts for Evee on 13-19 shooting (ridiculous). Olivari with 21, Mullins with 14, Fiedler with a near triple double.
Defense was still shoddy, but good enough down the stretch to get the win (big steal by Mullins for the dagger). I'm a little worried that the starters played so many minutes with a game tomorrow. But we'll deal with that when we have to.

Wow, nice win to start out 2021!
Evee and Olivari are a really good 1-2 combination - maybe the best backcourt of guards we've had since 2016-17 (Evans and Jackson - or even Koulechov if you want to include him as a guard)? Let's hope they gel together and stay together at Rice for two more years. UTSA has kept onto their two guards in Jackson and Wallace. No reason we can't do the same.
Nice game by Fiedler too. We're starting 4 sophs and a junior now so I think we can keep getting better.

+1000
If our retention was better we'd be so solid in conference, and more
