Strategy for Covid Conference Basketball Games
Both Women and Men will be playing the same team in back to back days this year in conference play.
Is there a strategy?
Will this be an advantage for us?

I guess you could vary your gameplan game to game and of course make adjustments between games. Depth should be important so maybe 10-11 deep due to back to backs vs 8-10. One thing I’ve noticed very early on the men’s side with these back to back games is that often they result in splits. Could be a very tight conference in terms of standings and JMU’s spot could come down to limiting the sweeps and picking up a couple of sweeps on their own. I like our chances.

Since there will be very little time to watch game video and coach the team between back-to-back games, the schedule will favor the coaches that prep for all possible circumstances in the 6 days from weekend to weekend.
This should favor cerebral and detail-oriented coaches who have the vision to see everything that may go wrong before the games occur.
Of course depth matters in game 2. Everyone will be super fresh in game 1. Who will have the legs to give it 100% in game 2? I suspect we may see more zone defense from some of the shallow CAA rosters to protect their lack of depth.
IMO, the Funky back to back games make the CAA even more of a free-for-all. There is no favorite this year and not much separation from top to bottom.
Showing how crappy the CAA is this year, the top rated team is #139 and the bottom is #298. 6 of the teams are 200+

I'm not sure what to make of the rankings at this point.
VCU RPI #40, UVA #79?
Duke at RPI# 166? Their resume sure doesn't look good, but still seems hard to believe. If there was ever a year it would be good to play them, it would be now. Would think Cameron is a lot more tame than usual.

I noticed this with NJ Tech and Vermont. Sunday Vermont easily beat NJ Tech. Monday NJ Tech beat Vermont in double OT. Wonder is this will be a trend?
If you are a deep team that likes to press, and or up tempo, do you push it extra hard to wear down the other team?
Getting a loss is not that painful, but playing back to back games with the same conference mate would be extra painful if you lose both games. The difference between getting swept, and sweeping 2 games in two days would be a four game swing between the two teams.
As a CAA coach, I would certainly try to win every game, but in the back of my mind I think the key is to not get swept in conference play while winning a few sweeps.
