Holgs earned an extension and an expense account at the casino bar for only having 20 or so players ineligible because of grades.

Makes one recall that thread about UH’s new mission statement. Bqahahaha!

UH fans got duped big time. They thought they were "stealing" a P5 head coach when in reality he was on the verge of getting canned.

I almost feel bad for them.

No one was under the impression we were stealing him. We all knew too well he was getting canned. Some thought he would do better here whichich I hope he will. He just needs to put a complete game and we'll be fine. The players are playing unmotivated.

That's a good point. Holgorsen still can turn this around. I am not sure many here would bet on it happening, but he does still have time.

I think putting a complete game out there is a fine goal for year #3. You are in good hands.

Well said, quo

Holgorsen’s first year was just a typical first year head coach type season ... 2020 season was an ugly mess for every sport in the world.

I am certain Holgorsen wants nothing more than to revive Houston’s football program back to it’s dominant ways. I’m gonna lean on his third year as being the year that he flipped Houston’s switch back on.

Now, if Holgorsen’s third season doesn’t turn to much his fourth year may be his last here in Houston.

Here hope Holgorsen revives Houston football

Yes, Holgorsen will be on a warm seat when next season starts, and if losses start to mount the temperature will likely quickly rise. But those who have already written him off are IMO clearly premature.

1-3 in bowls all against non P5'ers. Ouch.

...uhhhh, the AAC teams were all unmotivated by their inferior opponents and didn't really want to be there.

That's the line, right?

UH is 0-3 vs MWC teams. It mainly has to due with late season collapses. Coaches being fired, and this year the players giving up on the team.

Dana has no respect from his players. He did not maintain a team or a culture of wanting to play for each other for houston and playing with pride to win.

If you are prideful of your school and teammates you don’t opt out of this game even if it’s meaningless, you suit up and try to get a ring.

Every decent player we had opted out.

During the redshirt season we tried to excuse away a losing season as strategy. Talk about drinking the kool aid.

Dana is scamming the state of Texas for millions of dollars a year

There is no hope because this team is not a team. The team is getting their culture from a drunken gambling addict who has to take an IV of red bull just to function during the day time.

Dana would not have been at the game yesterday if he had an option.

We need to clean house and start over. Just go 2 years without recruiting and let all these players graduate. There are start up FBS teams that are doing well in their first years because they get to build from the ground up. That’s what we need to do.

For Houston I wouldn’t call it unmotivated... pretty sure Houston wanted to end this season on a good note but we did have a large number of players unavailable due to covid related issues.

UH made a deal with the devil to get Holgersen and pay him $4 million. WVU obviously did not want him and was unwilling to pay him his asking price. His demeanor both at WVU and at UH is there for all to see. A whinin', bitchin', cryin' sore loser who questions the motivations of his players, makes excuses for his own shortcomings and conducts himself as an entitled SOB. Once could see this train wreck coming. For the AAC to be nationally respected, UH, along with Memphis, UCF and Cincy, have to be the bellcows. I don't think UH will pull its weight as long at Holgs is the coach.

And, by the way, if UH fires coaches that go 8-4, when does it do that to coaches who go 3-5?

Well I think Liberty is about to give Freeze a bigger contract than Dana. Not sure if that counts as Liberty is independent. Hindsight is 20/20 but I thought it was bad news when they went 0-4 and agreed to let the QB sit out and return next season. I thought that had disaster and lies written all over it. Not that I blame the QB for what he did, but the coach stupid to believe the kid would not look.

Houston also had some head-scratching play calling down the stretch. IIRC, on the last couple of possessions, down 14 with only minutes remaining, Houston two or three times ran trap-draw type plays that gained about two yards and only served to keep precious seconds melting off the clock. They needed to be throwing DOWN the field, come what may.

I noticed the same thing. Houston also threw low percentage throws like go routes and verts on plays like 3rd and 3. Just bad play calling in general.
