In the future, i only hope that coach ignores big red flags. He probably will, because we'd hope he won't be in that position again.

I agree with everything you said. Except that there was a concern about the team's GPA. That part is not a dead horse. But don't think that will be an issue.

Wait. Your other post said their GPA was very good. So now I’m confused. Was it good or is there legit reason for concern? The timing of Steere’s departure is after finals, so it would seem he took them prior to leaving. Hopefully not only Steere but everyone on the team did well.

I think he meant someone in this thread expressed concern about his GPA.

There does not appear to any concern from the program at this time based on the info we have.

Siddle posted this on the 10th, “Thanks to our big time coaches, our amazing academic advisor and our hard working student-athletes, we put together another great semester in the classroom. I’m a proud proud coach! “Do Both Guys””

Team GPA was 3.04, 9 players above 3.0.

RE: Steere
That’s cool that they did well overall, but the worry is that everyone wasn’t above the minimum threshold. It’s okay to have someone transfer, but not as okay if they part ways not meeting the minimum requirement . I would guess that UNCW is in pretty good shape APR wise regardless, but the goal is to stay good at all times.

Bill this comment was made before steere left. Coach also told us after the last show about team grades at Buffalo wild wings.

Ian Steere Tweet

"Demons in your head don’t make you a devil. Wish y’all understood that."

I'm sorry it did not work out of Ian and for UNCW basketball. He's got a lot of life ahead , and I for one am rooting that the best is still yet to come in life for him.

RE: Steere
We all want the best for Ian! Life is complex and is not an easy ride, but can be really good too! Thankfully there are resources and we go to resources and smart elders when we need to. We all mature as well and get to a better understanding, if willing, to gravitate towards a point that gets us away from our worst tendencies. It's part of life and it doesn't matter who you are. I know for a fact that I didn't have it figured out at age 20-21. Eventually, you have to decide what you're legacy will be as a person and that takes insight and looking into the mirror-we all have to and we all have problems. Christianity was my way, but still I'm far from perfect and that's okay, nobody is. Good look young man...we are all in a constant struggle to figure it out, but you will if you continue to look to be the best man that you can be, you will figure it out for you.

Good news for Ian. Just signed a pro contract in Europe. Hope it's nowhere but up from here.

As mentioned above he is just out of the college and it will be his first season in pro basketball.

According to Lions Head Coach Gilbert Abraham: "Ian Steere is one of the best athletes I have ever had the opportunity to coach. Ian is a powerful and skilled interior player that will contribute in many different ways to our teams success. We are all very excited to have him on our team. Ian brings joyful spirit to our team culture and passionate energy to our competitions. Ian is an excellent addition to our team and we are overjoyed to have him."ear-in-pro-basketball
