IMO, the UGA game will be our biggest test since the O$U game and it should be, but I like our chances if the O line can not have 294 false starts amid what will surely be a very noisy venue. UC may not win but I definitely think we'll be more competitive than our list New Year's Day-ish bowl game... and we definitely won't lose our coach this time.

I believed we were on ND and A&M level up until this past weekend. Tulsa running it down our throat really shook me. Outside of QB, I think Tulsa was the better team.

We had a lot of ring rust from not playing for a month. With 2 weeks of minimal contact with the staff and players. Having the ball 2 times down there inside the ten in the 4th with not scoring .....well normally we score both times. Without that one month layoff no way we have 9 pre snap penalties.

CBS Sports...exactly

4. Peach: (9) Georgia vs. (8) Cincinnati
Jan. 1, 12 p.m. -- Let's get our story straight right now. If Cincinnati wins this game, it does not prove that the Bearcats deserved a College Football Playoff berth and were screwed over by the CFP Selection Committee. It just means that Georgia "didn't want to be there." Now, if Georgia wins the game, then it's proof that Cincinnati didn't even belong in the conversation, and anybody who thought it did was just another deluded fool who "doesn't understand football." Got it? If you have any questions, ask them now because I don't want any confusion later.

Seriously, though, this is a matchup I find quite interesting. Cincinnati is genuinely a good football team, and while I don't think it would have had a prayer of beating Alabama, I feel that way about generally everybody but maybe two teams. Georgia is a good team as well, and it's been better since making the switch to J.T. Daniels at QB. I know I joked around about the narratives that will surround this game afterward, and there will be plenty more beforehand, but my advice is to just go in expecting a good college football game. Odds are you're going to get one.

RE: Peach Bowl Pregame: Cincy vs. Georgia
While I wrote here in the Tulsa pre-game thread last week that I expected a "tense, intense, white knuckle viewing experience" on Saturday it was partly out of respect for their team but more my concern with UC's 28 day layoff, Covid 19 infections that shut down practice cycles for nearly two weeks, and the possibility of lousy weather. UC survived all three.

I expect a different Bearcat team to show up and compete on New Year's Day. And I agree, short of a victory, #8 vs. #9 should be a highly competitive game especially for those who argued UC deserved playoff spot #4.

As to some of Georgia's top players sitting this one out--fine with me. Of course we know they'll roll 4 star kids off the bench to replace them so it's still going to take UC's best performance of the year to upend these Bulldogs. NY6 is an outstanding achievement for any team. For UC, it's also a great measuring stick on how far the 'Cats have come since that disappointing shutout performance in Columbus last season.

The changes on the o line made this a vastly improved team day 1. They were brutal last yeah. Not sure what happened to the defense up there though

And how do you scout players that rode the bench all year?

I really thought Tulsa stayed close because of a few bounces of the ball. Tulsa fumbled once and the ball came back to them. UC fumbled 3 times with 2 of them recovered by Tulsa.

2 false starts inside the Tulsa 10 didn't help. nor did having a field goal blocked.

We also dropped like 3 int’s. Bryant 1 on the big hit by Dublanko, White on a tipped pass, and Hicks on the one that him and Sauce had that ended up being a lucky deep reception.

Ball was definitely bouncing their way. I feel like if that game is played again with no rust, we win by 17.

There's no doubt we were the much better team. The snap issues I completely chalk up to rust; it's completely out of character for a team that's been really disciplined all year. They had a fluke bomb that hit both of our DBs in double coverage. And we were scoreless in two trips inside the 10. If we weren't rusty we would have blown them out.

RE: Peach Bowl Pregame: Cincy vs. Georgia
Yea, I agree. I rewatched them game today and we were in control and there was some weird things that kept Tulsa in it. Dropped Int’s, weird bounces turning an Int into a 50+ yard gain in double coverage, false starts and snap issues, fumbled and bad snaps, etc...

When we weren’t killing ourselves we were doing goodZ. It should be things we can fix like ball security and false starts haven’t been a big issue all season so I don’t think those are things to worry about.

The one piece that had me worried was the run defense. It seemed like we were a step slow in our fits and it led to uncharacteristically poor run defense. Considering we have been extremely solid all year in the run game I think we will be better in this aspect once we get the rust out.

Make no mistake it’s still going to be a challenge but I’m not going to get overly concerned with what we saw in the Tulsa game considering the circumstances.

As long as we don't put ourselves into 1st or 2nd and 15 on every other drive and we score points when we get inside the 15, we stand as much a chance as they do of winning the game.

Peach Bowl Pregame: Cincy vs. Georgia
Does anyone else recall the announcers commenting when the defensive delay of game penalty was called? Talked about how defenses call signals to mimic the offensive snap count but because of the noise in stadiums with "normal" crowds, the officials don't hear it.

The false starts frustrated me but I kept noticing that when the Bearcat interior linemen jumped, they would point at Tulsa's defense even though none of them moved. Add that to that lone defensive delay of game penalty and I wonder if the Tulsa defense was part of the issue. Haven't seen it mentioned so maybe it's an unwritten rule to not talk about that kind of thing

They weer barking out the cadence and clapping their hands to mimic the snap from the fist drive. It got into Hudson's head. He had his worst game here.

After Georgia watches the tape, do you think they'll attempt the same tactic? It doesn't seem like something a top ten SEC team would do but it certainly caused UC enormous problems on several offensive possessions.

I definitely would, and I'd do it only on occasion. If I thought it would work against UGAs line, I'd advocate that UC do it too.

I suspect if UGa does this our staff will have our line go back to having the guard tap Renfro on the hip. Interestingly, that exchange brought me back to my old playing days. I can remember playing a school in high school that had a silent snap, and the snap was initiated by a hip slap (or two) from the guard. That was back in the 80s when everyone was running the wishbone or the flexbone— hadn’t seen that until now.

It was definitely part of the issue. Even Fick called the ref over and was telling him about it.

It led to multiple false starts and even after that as it then got into our head and on top of the long layoff gave us issues all night. We even had an errant snap from Renfro causing us a loss of down and lost yards. Lucky Ridder jumped on the ball or we would have lost a fumble (ended up mixing a longer FG anyway due to that IIRC).

It cost them one penalty so it was a huge positive for them overall. When that happens I think they have to look at a more severe penalty. Unsportsmanlike Conduct. A second one is an ejection. No room for RGT nonsense IMO but at the same time we definitely have to be prepared to see that more until we show we can handle it and it only causes penalties for the defense.

I don't think it's an unwritten rule as much as to avoid sounding like you are making excuses. I think people tend to misinterpret reasons as excuses but the bottom line, either way, is you've got to overcome that stuff and avoid mistakes. So just say we've got to "do better" or "get that fixed" to the public and move on.

The chiefs ran a little shovel pass type of play to kelce and scored on it twice. I think it be cool to use that with our TEs
