It can be expected that Coastal will feel this is a downer game as a bowl game. The canceled game would have been exceptional. Former BSC rivals, close games in the past, each other knocking the other out in FCS invites. But as Coastal has garnered some national attention with their strong season, they'll likely look as this pairing as an action of disrespect. Whereas the canceled game was a scheduled one, as this is one where expectations were as high as Coastal receiving a New Year's bowl game, to be be playing LU, expect lots of talk to be about how low of an opponent Coastal got in this match up. HC Freeze has a great opportunity to have Coastal locker room talk be motivation for the Flames to be extra motivation. This should be a very good and competitive game. And very close.

RE: CURE BOWL: vs. Beach Chickens
I was confident we'd get a bowl game so I'm definitely excited to go bowling.

The Cure Bowl is a little disappointing since we were there last year. I'm not trying to sound entitled; I just wanted to experience a different bowl but I am happy regardless.

Playing Coastal Carolina is a drag but at least we can ruin their season. I wanted a P5 opponent or someone with some notoriety like BYU, Army, etc. At least they are ranked.

What tie ins do y'all have? Aren't you only tied to the Cure Bowl?

Quote:During the 2020 to 2025 bowl game cycle, ESPN Events could place the Flames in one of at least six bowl games: Boca Raton Bowl (FAU Stadium; Boca Raton, Fla.), Camellia Bowl (Cramton Bowl; Montgomery, Ala.), , Famous Idaho Potato Bowl (Albertsons Stadium; Boise, Idaho), Tropical Smoothie Cafe Frisco Bowl (Toyota Stadium; Frisco, Texas), Myrtle Beach Bowl (Brooks Stadium; Conway, S.C.) and New Mexico Bowl (Dreamstyle Stadium; Albuquerque, N.M.).

An ESPN Bowl Pool tie-in is a good get. Keeps the bowl games relatively in your region if you have a good year. Bad year, you're across the country. Keeps pressure on your guys to continue good years to get closer bowls.

Yosef, I am App grad and was born in the Lynchburg area. I pull for ASU (that's what we called it when I was in school there), except when they play LU. As a reference, Joe Parker was the punter extraordinaire when I was at App so that gives you a reference to my time frame. App has set the expansion bar high for all FCS to FBS schools. All schools would like to have the year App had this year, which many seem to think is a down year.

Army, without an ESPN bowl tie in like LU, is out of a bowl this year. Army is certainly deserving. This year is like no other year with 3 win teams going bowling. The SBC board is buzzing with the disrespectful pairings of teams. Did Coastal deserve a higher seed than LU, yes. And LU will a LU win be a bigger benefit for LU than a Coastal win? Yes. And LU Is ranked in several polls, which is exceedingly better than playing a 3 win P5 team.

For the record, Army had a bowl tie in but the bowl was cancelled and all the rest of the bowls stuck with their tie ins. Everyone was bowl eligible this year so it sucks for Army to be left out (for now).

You got a bowl game against a #12 ranked team in the country in orlando the day after christmas. Cry me a river.

Army is replacing Tenn. in the Liberty Bowl so they are okay.

Well I did say I was excited. I guess I just don't understand the need for someone who hates Liberty to come to a Liberty board to announce how much he hates Liberty. Seems like a waste of time but to each their own.

Coastal Carolina should be thrilled to play a top 25 ranked team the day after Christmas in primetime on Saturday in Orlando. Goes both ways.

This game is getting nothing but good publicity, other than the shade thrown at it by a few fans on either side. It is praised as one of the best bowl matchups of the season. Two great teams. Former rivals. It’s gonna be a good one.

The Beach Chickens are still favored by 7.5 points. I think we win straight up, by about that same margin.

Just curious, what are your reasons you think LU wins?

I think the key to a win is the LU OL. Willis will thrive if the OL does their job well.

I dont hate liberty I think its a great game for both schools. Im not sure where you got the idea I dont like liberty. Ive actually been relatively positive towards liberty football. I dont think much of Jr but as a school its not much different than BYU.

RE: CURE BOWL: vs. Beach Chickens
Coastal Beaten!

Clearly we are the better team that had an off night since it's been a month since our last game. Overcoming three turnovers is difficult but we found a way. We had a lot of opportunities to get down on ourselves but we didn't feel sorry for ourselves and we pulled through. Well done team!

Guess we should have been the ones complaining about being left out of the playoffs. We should definitely finish the season ranked for the first time in FBS!

I apologize for saying you hate Liberty. Many people come here to start stuff so I occasionally assume outsiders are only here to troll. 04-cheers
