RE: 2021 Bearcats Football
as mentioned above, I would have a hard time leaving with the schedule UC has pending next year if I am anything but a top 3 round pick.. anything else and I am coming back 1000%. Even Wiggins who had some injury issues this year potentially can't HURT his stock and most likely will improve it if he can stay healthy next year. I would think the team watching someone as skilled as Warren sitting on a practice squad could at least see the issue with not getting drafted/not getting drafted high enough to even have a real chance right away.

The other top teams will all have people getting graded as round 1-4 players so they will leave.. but you give me this team minus maybe Sanders and Wiggins and even Ridder with an even healthier talent-wise rotation of youth and I think this team can compete with almost anyone next year.. and we will have the schedule to actually compete. because after 2021 schedule our OCC is not good enough for us to get a cfp(spit) chance again any time soon..

If we lose Ridder and Bryant we are REALLY going to struggle on offense next year regardless of the talent around the new QB.

I would have to think it'll be one or the other.

Thats the hope...but we've got one who definitely looked like it was his last game in Nippert with the way he reacted after the game and the other is currently in the Transfer Portal...so I'm not counting that as a guarantee.

I agree it's less than ideal but Bryant also played Saturday so he's in good standing. Deadline for the draft is not long after the season; Ben will still be able to go elsewhere for second semester if Des intends to stay. Probably has to be in portal to look at other options in the event Des is staying.

I don't think Des is leaving based on his reaction last night.
I think he was just emotional coming off of a strange stressful season, the 4 weeks off with covid concerns and isolating to stay well, under pressure to win the championship, struggling to put Tulsa away and then finally exhaling at the end.
I wouldn't assume he's gone based on that...
now if there are other indicators maybe...

I don’t think his reaction is a result of him already knowing he is leaving. If that was the case and he already knew he was leaving I don’t think Bryant would be in the portal. I think he is likely still deciding and a lot will depend on his draft stock. If he is a likely 2nd/3rd Rd Pick then he would be best to go and not risk injury or his stock dropping IMO.

RE: 2021 Bearcats Football
Next year we will be good. It’s too early to say how good. If Hudson and Ridder returns then the only key piece we lose on offense is Doaks and I think Ford will be an upgrade. Of course I don’t know the likelihood of either returning.

On defense we will likely take a step back, but I expect we will still be a formidable defense overall. I worry a bit about the depth, especially if we lose Myjai as that will hit the DL even harder than it will already be hit. If Myjai returns we retain our 2 best defenders in Gardner and Myjai along with capable players with experience at safety and LBers it gives us a lot to work with. A step back should be expected, but we could still be the best D in the AAC IMO and with the best players a year older the ceiling is just as high. Of course that’s if Sanders returns.

i can't see how Myjai stays. His stock seems pretty hot right now. i don't know how much better he's going to get by staying. On top of that, i think we are losing a ton of experience on the DL so i don't know if he's going to get the type of help that would allow him to keep shining. He was getting double teamed some last night. if he returns, he can expect to be double teamed stepping off the team bus all next season. i just don't see the upside for him.

I think he is the most ready to leave early and wouldn’t be surprised at all. I don’t think it’s a definite but if I was forced to guess I’d probably say he was gone. Sadly we have replacements for Ponder in Briggs but Myjai may be the most difficult to replace.

I posted a promo thing from the athletic department with all the grads talking about their next steps. I was kind of surprised that his quote was all about training for the draft/NFL (as opposed to next season or even his grad studies at UC). Maybe reading too much into both, but if I had to guess based upon that and his post-game reaction, I think he's gone.

Obviously, it's his call, not mine, but I think he's better off coming back at least from a long-term NFL analysis. Here's Thamel who seems to be surprisingly in tune with what's happening at UC.

I completely agree.

RE: 2021 Bearcats Football
No doubt Des could use another year to develop, but at the same time if his stock is high enough you can’t blame him for leaving. If ai had to guess, I would expect him to return but I think it’s really up in the air. Especially since he has his degree already.

I hope he does return. After everything it seems everything finally has clicked and I wonder what a backfield with him and Ford for a full season could accomplish. If a LBer or Safety is a split second filling the hole it’s going to be a big gain.

Wish we had some sort of hints for guys like Ridder, Hudson, and Sanders. If those 3 return we could have another special year where we return to a NY6 game.

Edit: with Des a lot could depend on how he performs against UGA. A big game will help his stock even more as it will prove he can do it against future NFL talent.

Right it all depends on the bowl game. If he does great and plays like SMU and Memphis game and we come away the winner. He has to go pro. I think he stock will not get any higher. Unless we would make another undefended season and make the CFP. But that will not happen with a P5 committee picking the teams.

RE: 2021 Bearcats Football
Is the only real options to leave early Ridder, Hudson, and Myjai?

Do we have any clues on Seniors who could return for another year? Apparently Beavers has been talked about. I think I Harper could benefit from another year and if we lose Hudson it would be good to have the experience at Tackle.

It’s so hard to predict next year since we don’t have any idea what the roster will look like. I think we will end up competing for another American Conference Championship and that would put us as the favorite for the NY6 bowl game.

Looks like Holloway isn't even on the roster any more so good luck to him wherever he ends up. As far as LB competition, don't forget about Deshawn Pace...

Yep...sounds like he's the heir apparent in the sniper position.
