I’m taking the vaccine as soon as I can get it. I’m taking it less for me but rather for my wife, her parents, my children and grandchildren, my friends, and as quick a return to normal as humanly possible. The same reason I wear a mask and social distance.

Unfortunately, it's not always a feasible option for many of us. The saving grace for me, at this point, is should my company mandate it (and I just checked on something internally that indicates they will once the initial vaccine rush has passed) I can and will use the religious exemption.

What you will do makes perfect sense. It's different for others. As long as my mom gets the vaccine, everything should be fine. I haven't gotten vaccinated since I was 5 or 6 years old.

I don't take any medication of any kind, not even aspirin, get a common cold for a couple of days every 5 years, and never get the flu. Also, I've for sure been exposed to the virus and either got it and was asymptomatic, or will probably never get it. When everything was out of control at the end of March, I was on 4 flights from Colombia back to Montreal, which included a 6 hour layover at La Guardia. I do all the grocery shopping for myself and my mother.

So as long as my mom gets the vaccine and I wear a mask, practice social distancing and perfect hygiene, I am perfectly fine waiting until the very end to take it.

I'm actually first in line because I work in a Covid ICU as an RN manager. The older I have gotten, the more I react to things so I am holding off for now. I will see how the first round goes with my staff and then will go from there.

A thought just occurred. Everyone is talking about being the first to take the vaccines but hundreds of thousands have taken one of the growing number of approved vaccines in the many trials. Why wait?
