It will be in the Tribe Script
There will be one set of feathers
There will be no state silhouette
There will be the W&M Logo
Tribal will hate anything I post

I am open to
1) Feathers at the beginning or end
2) Spirit or Vegas Gold

1. Upright feathers at the end.
2. Vegas gold, since that's what appears on our unis (unless someone can tell me that one of our teams besides football/basketball/baseball wears Spirit Gold)
Unsolicited: No swoosh. The bigger "Tribe" looks better.

I am open to bringing back the old "Fighting Virginians" logo of the late 1920s/early 30s. And what about a "Big Green" graphic.

I'm okay with the Fighting Virginians, but don't care for the Big Green.

I know we've gone completely off topic here but I don't think I've ever seen a copy of that logo.

Don't know how we might have missed this one:

"In 1927 a seventeen-foot alligator named Cal was adapted as the W&M Mascot".

Forget the Feathers and the Griffin...bring back Cal and put him in the graphic!

You can look it up under William and Mary mascots and nicknames.

It kills me to support Spiders over Tribe, but if they're smart, they'll do a clean, complete break. Otherwise they'll still be dealing with this 30+ years later like we are.

Tribe is officially out. They will not change the name, officially, until 2022.

I'm not sure of the wisdom of waiting this far ahead of the season, if the decision has been made.

They're announcing that the name will change so that they can stop getting pressured while they come up with a new name.

Haha, just kidding, they're making sure they sell out of all the old merch this year, then cash in again next year.

I read somewhere the mark point where Cleveland chose this name. Like many old ones, it came from a sportswriter and had something to do with a Native American player. The roots on this one aren’t deep. I suspect they will find something more in line with Cleveland. Maybe the Flames. Back in the day, they were best known for their river catching fire.

The first thing that comes to my mind when I think Cleveland is Lebron, but it might be tough to name a baseball team after him

The Calgary NHL team is called the Flames... not sure if that matters. There are "giants" across sports so maybe not.

Yup. The 3 I have heard most are the Spiders, Rocks, and Rockers. None are very inspiring TBH
