RE: Rating the AAC in men's basketball
Houston
SMU
UCF
Memphis
Tulsa
USF
East Carolina
Tulane
TBD on Cincinnati, Wichita State, and Temple.
Based off of coaching, talent, and potential, I would probably slot Cincinnati between UCF and Memphis in the second group, Wichita State at the top of the third group with Tulsa, and Temple between ECU and Tulane.

Lipscomb barely beat Lamar. I don't think that is a good win. Only UCF and Houston have good wins so far.

duke barely beat coppin state.. they are still projected to be a 1 seed.
lipscomb is the preseason favorites to their league and a projected top 100 team
edit: not saying lipscomb wont be horrible, but preseason projections is all we have for now and tulane beat a team they shouldnt have

RE: Rating the AAC in men's basketball
Pretty disappointed in OOC performance from USF and Memphis. I swear a few years ago houston played @ USF and it seemed like USF was a year away from being a competitive team and then it just didn’t develop further.
And Memphis... yea
Then again in basketball SOS really only matters for seeding so it’s not as crucial as football where your confidence can pick your post season almost as much your team does.
Coogs can be like Wichita state pre AAC this year

This is pretty close to the way that I see it as well. Tulsa is a wild card as always.

Tulsa is a league killer. They tank non-conference and then go on a phenomenal run in conference play.

ECU is definitely ahead of USF. That shouldn't even be up for debate.

ECU beat Charlotte and a D2 team, usf beat a D2 team but lost to two solid teams, not sure where you’re coming from.

It's really early. I don't think anything is definite except that Houston is really damn good.

I believe he was thinking this was the football thread. ECU basketball might be solid this year but its just too early to know.

RE: Rating the AAC in men's basketball
Statistically, SMU is a far better shooting team than Houston is, as SMU is shooting two’s at 53.4 percent and three’s at 38.5 percent.
Houston is shooting field goals no better than Temple did last season. Ridiculous for those who make rankings to rank Houston, a team that shoots two’s at only 43 percent, and 32 percent on three’s, as the nation’s 7th ranked team. They should know that good teams that can rebound are going to keep Houston off the offensive boards. Nor will good teams allow Houston to win the turnover battle. Sure seems that at least 32 teams in the nation who shoot far better than Houston can do that.
Can’t wait till Houston and SMU meet each other. If SMU hold their own on the boards and turn the ball over no more than Houston’s does, SMU should beat Houston.
Surely, on any given night, either team can win, but it will be more of an upset if Houston beats SMU.

We're not even predicted to be that bad. I know that an OT victory over UNCW isn't very impressive. FWIW, ESPN BPI predicts ECU to win 7 conference games this year. That said, I really can't argue with those rankings too much although what has Tulane done to deserve 4th best in the league?
