Wow, crazy that Charlotte would agree to play you in Huntington. Charlotte has played 5 games this year and only one was a home game. Marshall has played 8 games and six have been at home. This would be your 7th home game out of 9 games played this season. That's completely outlandish.

It was a conference game that was scheduled in Huntington. Have to imagine that’s why.

From what it looks like this is how the East plays out for next weeks game against Charlotte

Marshall wins they clinch.
Marshall loses with FAU win then FAU clinches.
Marshall loses with FAU loss then Charlotte clinches.

I get that, but on top of what I said, this game even replaces a game you were to play at FIU. Most G5 schools never get to play 7 of 12 at home in a season, much less 7 of 9.

And if Charlotte were to Clinch, would either UAB or UTSA then host the title game?

UNCC plays @home tomorrow and going into todays game vs Rice Marshall had played 2 road and 2 home conference games. Why would you be worried about OOC games when it comes to CUSA games played?

Not worried about it. Am amused though that some at Marshall have gone so far as to say they'd be offended if this college football season were looked back upon with an asterisk when, clearly, it has not only been uncommon but actually the first of its kind. And if that isn't enough, Marshall will have even played 7 of their 9 regular season games at home.

I feel bad for the administrative staff this year. A lot of travel plans changing on short notice.

Whoever wins the East will have one loss which will trumps UTSA.

I’m not sure about how it work with UAB, but I would assume If Marshall or FAU is 5-1, that would trump UAB in wins.

I believe in every scenario except 1, the East champ is going to have a higher conference win percentage than the west champ unless this specific scenario happens...

WKU beats Charlotte
Charlotte beats Marshall
Southern Miss beats FAU

... then Marshall would be the 4-2 East Champ with a worse win percentage than the West Champ. In any scenario other than that, you're either looking at either a 5-1 Marshall (.833), 5-1 FAU (.833), or a 4-1 Charlotte (.800).

Note to gsht of Charlotte: We have cleaned up the criks, changed downtown to uptown and are fully prepared to welcome you boys to the Joan. Don’t forget to bring toll money for the Turnpike - $12 each way!

Volk. You keep bringing up the fact we had 7 home games out of nine.

Yet you conveniently ignore the fact Marshall had 8 out of its 12 original games either postponed or cancelled.

Two of those road games were FIU and ODU. Those games ultimately would not have made much of a dent.

Games on Marshalls original schedule that were not played included:

@ ECU
@ Ohio
Pitt
Boise State
@ FIU
@ ODU

And home games with Rice and Charlotte were postponements that ended up back on the docket.

Finally, home games with EKU, App State and UMASS were last minute additions, and quite frankly, we were lucky to even add them. I'm sure we would have played a road game if a school offered a reasonable payday, but I almost bet with tight budgets all around college athletics, the offers to play on the road were miniscule.

Additionally, when you say amused, you are poking at my assertion that asterisks are offensive to the players and coaches who have put themselves on the line, and had to go beyond the pale for what little they've achieved.

I can't understand why that is so hard to comprehend, as I know you are a logical dude. You are looking at this from the fan perspective. I'm ooking at this from the players perspective.

If Marshall is hosting Charlotte, it sounds like the dorm mother needs to keep an eye on those two kids.

You mean Joan? Yes I believe she’ll be up for the task.

I heard she is none too pleased. She’ll have the kids on their best behavior, especially after things kind of got out of control last week.
