All Things Realignment 2.0
If the recommendations from the Knight Commission are adapted, I think that we’ll end up playing with Louisville, Pitt and WVU again. I see this as more likely than the BXII.

FBS football to be split away from NCAA governance.

Precursor to the P5 throwing its own party when it wants.

It makes to much sense. They'll never do it unless money warrants it.

Big 12 wishlist

1) stay as is

2) Arizona schools

3) UCF and USF

Multiple AAC schools angling for spots in 2024.

You only have to look at the last couple pages of this thread to see why UC is where it is.

I can't disagree with this poster's analysis. Maybe this year's fall from grace by BYU--losing to CCU and being banished to a bowl against a lackluster G5 opponent, will wake them up to the fact that their program would be much higher profile in the emerging American Conference and would potentially get a P5 bowl opponent each year.

In my mind, it's the only expansion candidate worth adding immediately. And it probably would lead to a better western bowl affiliation for the AAC; the Sun Bowl perhaps? We hate the term, and for good reason, but no other G5 school "moves the needle" the way BYU does.

Seems like it’s pretty split on whether they should join the AAC with most citing the freedom to schedule opposed to playing AAC teams as the reason.

Not playing in a conference and giving yourself a chance to win a meaningful Championship each year doesn’t seem like a good way to build a program, but I may be looking at it from the wrong perspective.

I had no idea what the Knight Commission was so I looked it up. Terrific UC-related cameo in this article:

That forum/thread style is some of the most disorganized and confusing that I have ever seen. Maybe it's just me but I don't know how to read anything beyond the first post.

A lot of the info discussed goes back a long time for various conferences/teams. I’ve been following this since around ‘07 on various threads throughout CSNBBS and still learn new things each year.

I can't imagine Emmert would be supportive as it would seriously marginalize the role of the NCAA with the largest, most successful universities. And it might be the first brick out of the wall for a total separation by the top schools that likely provide the lion's share of revenue to the NCAA.

This should get interesting--stay tuned!

Yea i wonder how many years Emmert is from retirement. He's probably putting a severance/parachute in place as we speak.

New thread started. The old thread has been killed and moved to archives as part of performance clean ups.

RE: All Things Realignment 2.0
It is worth reading exactly who the Knight Commission is:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knight_Commission

Of course the reorg will not happen unless The Bens work. It would seem to mean ending the conferences networks, The ND-NBC Deal.

I wish it would happen but it seems more likely that the P5 just leave the NCAA.
