Oh, and I'll add, other schools across the nation manage to schedule games over night. Tech picked up TCU like that [snaps fingers]. Also, three CUSA schools managed to schedule BYU this year...although I wish we hadn't...but Marshall has managed to avoid them. Not that it matters, MU is nothing more than the tallest midget in the room...enjoy your bowl vs. a MAC opponent. Hey! maybe y'all will draw Buffalo and that RB who is averaging 400 yards a game!!! Well, not quite, but he's good.

Game was added in August 2020 due to Covid, so blows your theory out of the water.. No one knew CCU would be good this year at that time and Liberty wasn't expected to compete with P5's. They have a ton more scheduled with each other

RE: Did Marshall turn down a game with BYU?
Oh! it was LU vs. Coastal that got cancelled, and BYU managed to slip in to fill the vacant spot. Well, well...amazing what can be done when a team is WILLING to accept a bit of a challenge. BYU's 2020 schedule got destroyed by the virus, and as a result they have had to piece together games the best they could. I salute them for jumping on this opportunity to play Coastal. Yeah, CC is probably a little over-rated and all of that, but on paper they are unbeaten and ranked. Coastal is risking their unbeaten season by playing BYU, but they know whatever slim chance they had of being the NY6 participant depends on beefing up their resume'. Good for them!

As for Marshall, when it comes to the NY6, STFU! Accept your "tallest midget" trophy and go beat a MAC team in some minor bowl...

In terms of statsheets and metrics, Marshall's an absolute beast this year.

Good team, but keep those stats in context with the competition played.

They are risking it for one reason, the hope that Cincy loses and they beat BYU. They have nothing to lose in doing so and a ton to gain. If they don't beat BYU and cincy doesn't lose, they are like any other G5 champ not going to the NY6, including us, and stuck in whatever crap conference bowl. They don't lose anything other than possibly their ranking, they still have the conference champ game to attend, and the lackluster bowl.

I have not seen anywhere that Marshall fans are implying we are in contention for the NY6. I have no idea where you and others like you are pulling that out of your butt from. We know we aren't going and it would take everyone losing for us to have a shot. Get with it already and maybe you should STFU until you gather some valid talking points. Scoreboard.........07-coffee3

While you are correct about putting it into context, it still provides valid info on consistency. Are we really that high nationally, probably not but it still bodes well for where we are as a program right now.

RE: Did Marshall turn down a game with BYU?
So let’s get this straight:

1) A LaTech fan makes baseless accusations and demands we prove otherwise, so the burden is on the defense not the prosecution. Doesn’t work like that, professor. Sour grapes because we beat the ever loving crap out of you? 0-3 homeboy.

2) We are playing Rice this weekend so we could get another conference game in to eliminate the possibility of us being left out of the ccg on a technicality.

3) We didnt dodge a RANKED App State, so its idiotic to think we would dodge BYU when that would catapult us just below Cincy

4) I love how misery loves company with your (LT) coming up short yet again and want to piss on other people’s parade.

Seems to be the case now for whatever reason. I used to come to the defense of LT, not anymore.

Are you that dumb, what is wrong with you people. First you act like fans make the decisions, second, we have false info that you keep promoting. There has been no evidence other than a friends, friend, 5th cousin removed from a 5th cousin spreading false info. Don't you think if it had traction that the big local papers would be anxious to write about it?

What are you talking about with BYU and Liberty playing? Are you talking about CCU. Ok, lets go there, and since you did no research other than run your trap, here, a freebie:

1. Liberty and Coastal are former conference mates from the Big South, they have a long history dating back to 2003, the last time they played was 2016. They are very familiar with one another.
2. The current series was signed in 2018 and was scheduled as part of that series, another big DUH on your end. Just so happened that Liberty and CCU decided to be good during the same year and the matchup had nothing to do with that at all.
3. BYU would want this game, scheduled at the last minute for 2 reasons. One is ESPN Gameday publicity. Two is a beach trip and recruiting grounds. If you don't see that you are very blind. Nothing about this arrangement even suggests that this game was pursued by either party until CCU realized Liberty game was in doubt.

Now go home, chew on a cud and try to come back with an intelligent reasonable response.

Just to add to your 3rd point about BYU:

BYU also wants this game because frankly, it NEEDS this game. They are ranked 8th in the other polls but only 13th in the Playoff Poll...due to their overall schedule that they had to suddenly reconstitute (6 scheduled games against tough Pac 12, Big 10 and Sec teams suddenly vaporized in August). The Playoff Committee has penalized them for what they are calling a weak schedule and so getting the opportunity to play 18th ranked Carolina checks all the boxes for them to qualify for a NY6 bowl IF they beat Coastal. Funny thing is...yes BYU could have done this with Marshall but ESPN deserves a lot of credit for making this happen (BYU has been attempting to require G-5 teams to play at their stadium) this year.

A lot of vitriol raging on this board and I actually think that whoever had done well this year deserves kudos. Marshall has done great, Coastal, Liberty as well, UTSA, FAU has done well....All I'm saying is that it's a credit to programs persevering in there own individual situation, having some luck (Covid-19 wise), being able to schedule replacements at times and somehow being able to win. Tough situation this year. Nevertheless I hope as many G-5 & independent teams can be involved in the NY6 dance since bowl games are being cxld left and right and rules are being thrown out the window with P-5 programs not required to have winning seasons.

Or, it's just a silly message board and folks shouldn't get their panties in wad...which, BTW, only encourages the banter to continue.

YOU WOULD IF YOU WERE UNDEFEATED, BUT YOU AREN'T, SO YOU DON'T. get a clue, Geez.
Marshall: 25 App. St and FAU N/R
Louisiana: 24 Iowa St, 15 CC (possibly higher after BYU) and App. N/R plus you know...a full schedule of games.

Who has the better body of work?...I’ll wait.
Marshall, you know why, because our loss column is 0. yours is 1. this isn't rocket science. if you were comparing two undefeated squads, you have a point, but since we aren't doing that and your win vs our win pretty much nullifies each other, that big loss comes into play. I am sorry you can't seem to get that, but it matters. And what happens if FAU ends up ranked? they keep getting closer? I'll wait.... lord have mercy. beats all I have ever seen
It doesn’t matter what FAU ends up being ranked. When y’all beat them they were unranked. That is what I was told earlier in this thread.

Oh, geez, it was our second game. How in the hell were we supposed to be ranked?

Maybe they just want Marshall to have the same shot that CCU has tomorrow but it's doubtful the entire LA Tech university is represented by a couple of posters on this thread.

Also, aren't App and the Cajuns playing on ESPN tonight - you'll should be watching the game I'm watching it 04-cheers

That's exactly what happened today on ESPN radio. The two radio announcers saluted Coastal Carolina and BYU for "not being afraid to play an undefeated team". They also questioned out loud why nationally ranked Marshall had not done the same. (This is exactly what I said would happen) The announcers actually talked a lot about the upcoming BYU-CC game, and did a really good job of promoting interest in the game. They said "for you folks out there that are not familiar with Coastal, get in the game! You need to do your home work and know who this program is." Etc....etc...They had a lot of good things to say about Coastal.
