CUSA did the right thing here by scheduling this game.

Now if UAB wins against MTSU and Rice, they will have earned the West outright.

If UAB loses once, UTSA wins the West.

If UAB goes 4-2, that considered a tie with 5-2. So then they would win head-to-head and win the west UNLESS LaTech beats UNT to make it a 3-way tie. Then all three went 1-1 agains the other two so it would go to second tiebreaker of division record, which eliminates UAB. UTSA would then win head-to-head over LaTech and win the west.

UAB can't go 4-2.

They can either:
Win against MTSU and Rice = 4-1
Win one, have another cancelled = 3-1
Under both scenarios, UAB wins the west.

UTSA can win if UAB:
Lose one game, win another = 3-2
Lose both = 2-3
Both MTSU and Rice cancel = 2-1

My guess is UAB was much more cooperative about going to Middle than Marshall.

Yeah, I think anyone with a brain can figure out why Bill Clark wanted to play this game. Middle is one of the 10 worse teams in FBS.

But if they can some how get the win it will be a great day. Bill Clark loses and Middle will probably give Rick Stockstill a new contract. To me that would be a great day!

I get all the sniping, but couldn’t it be as simple as the 2 schools are 200 miles apart, and UAB can bus up Saturday, play & bus back Sunday?

If UAB beats MTSU this Sunday, what motivation would they have to play Rice the following week? They would be 3-1 and mathematically in front after going over a full month between games. I'm sure they wouldn't want to risk injuries before an impending game against Marshall either. Just a devil's advocate question.

its close enough to do in one day. leave at 8am be at the stadium before noon. drive home after the game. much less risk and cost

The game makes sense. I guess we should be shipped to UTEP. Oh wait. Never mind. We still lost a home game out of all this but I digress. I’m just happy to be playing.

I like it & I think only other options would have been rescheduled USM game since their game w/ UTEP was cancelled

I hope it does. So many athletes from all teams in CUSA have spent a whole year of their lives preparing and trying to play out the season. We all would like to see this all end purposefully.
The teams that win the division titles will battle for a championship. The goal for all of the players and teams.

....so while LA Tech got Marshall from the east, UAB gets MTSU? 03-lmfao

USM is available to makeup last week's game. That is the most obvious move, so it is probably last on the list.
