Lol yeah two years ago we lost to Colgate in front of 6000 people in a glorified high school stadium. I'll take the G5 matchup and some nice regular season OOC games any day.

Yeah, I was there. Had a fun time with some kids in their student section who most probably don’t even know they have a football team. But yeah, I’ll take the GD PortaJohn Bowl vs Georgia Southern please. (Because the best matchups in FBS are regular season!)

You guys are all like,

Yes! Give me app state, Marshall and ga southern in a bowl.

All teams we have connections to.

Reality is that it will more likely be like app states bowl history:

Ohio
Toledo
Toledo
Middle tenn
Uab

RE: FCS NC or FBS Top 25?
Not even close. FBS top 25 by far over a FCS national title.

A top 25 ranking would likely mean the best wins that we have had in our history, and obviously a special season. The support and $$$ from a top 25 ranking would be received and appreciated much more from our fanbase than a 1-aa title. Again, not even close.

I am not going to call it the JV title like our true rivals fans call it, but I am sick of JMU and FCS and its lameness being in the same sentence.

JMU and UCF in a bowl in a few weeks would be awesome.

can i add a 3rd? Access Bowl? i'd take that over #1 for sure. but top 25 ranking by itself doesn't do much for me.

i prefer accomplishments over opinions (which are what polls/rankings are).

So if i were to rate 3 examples:

Western Michigan's year in access bowl
JMU making national title game
App State being ranked but playing UAB in a bowl game, i'd rank them this way:

1) Western Michigan 2016 season
2) JMU in Frisco
3) App State's 2019 season

Huh?? App State beat North Carolina AND South Carolina last year. Amazing season and giving fans games that they want. Man, imagine JMU beating those two teams...

We beat Northern Iowa and South Dakota in front of 8-10k fans.

This reply above is very interesting to say the least.

There you go. That’s the DD I know. Just lump everyone who doesn’t agree with you in one broad stroke. It’s a lie, but hey, it sounds good!

For the record, those schools sound great. Toledo = meh, but the other three sound awesome to me.

For the record I recall some good MTU and Toledo teams. I'd have no issue playing another G5 from the MAC having a very good year. I would prefer that over FCS teams.

I get little satisfaction sitting in a division where our facilities/resources dwarf who we play.

Why don't we move to D11 and go for multiple year winning streaks?

Which home game has been most exciting to you the last 10 years? I could list a lot of G5 teams I would prefer to play over anyone we play in FCS. ASU, ODU, & Liberty, have already all hosted P5 schools schools in their brief FBS histories.

I got excited about 10 years ago when we almost got a low level MAC team to play us in Harrisonburg.

I'm no Karen or Ken so I'll play....

The playoff road to an FCS NC is a ton of fun

The FBS teams we would be playing to get a top 25 ranking trumps the FCS playoffs. No to mention the money involved in being top 25.

The thought of having a great season, knocking off a P5 and being ranked would be great during the season. It would be a huuuuge letdown though, to have as our reward a trip to the Glen's Fair Price Bowl in Pigsknuckle Arkansas against Kent St.

Exactly.

If we were ranked and had a top 25 season we would likely play a App State, CCU, or Marshall who was also was having a very good season.

In FCS if we have a great season we play Weber state, Monmouth, UNH, and possible NDSU if we both make it to the NC. Not only that our OOC home schedule always sucks in FCS. Sorry - Weber & Chattanooga are better than they past, but really not very exciting for most fans.

but App State has been ranked at year end once.

we've made 3 of the last 4 title games.

which is more likely to occur each year?

us in Frisco? or App State ranked at year end?

i'd rate Frisco at 50% on average each year
getting ranked at less than 3% each year

i think i am over starting every fall striving for a Championship game in Frisco TX, put in an 11 am local time slot because it can't interfere with any other " tv events" and played in sub freezing winter participation.
I'd take a meaningful regular season and "big" games in beautiful Valley fall weather against our FBS peers, in state and out, and the occasional P5, and a " decent" bowl game if we have a good year. Let's face it, outside of about 4- 5 bowls including the playoffs, the rest are all in the same League.
This argument is about having a more exciting regular season than it is about the final game IMO.

Is this a rhetorical question?

It's kind of like asking, "Would you rather have an ice cream cone or a million dollars?" I love ice cream, but it wouldn't take long to make that decision.
