Do you look at a coordinator from another MAC school (say, the OC at Buffalo)?

Do you consider a position coach at a P5 school. Or one if the better G5 programs (like Cincy)?

Do you talk to a former Rocket great who has only some or no coaching experience?

Who do you go after? And it has to be realistic...no Harbaugh from Michigan since he’ll be jobless nonsense, or talk Pinkle out of retirement stuff...

If Toledo could afford too, and I highly doubt they can -
1) Bring Matt Eberflus back out of the NFL
2) Elevate Kuligowski
3) Stay away from the Mount Union connection

Speaking of coaches, how did CMU lure McElwain to come from Florida to Mt. Pleasant? I guess if we promote Kulogowski, it's kind of the same thing.

1) Fire myself. Or Retire.
2) Put the lazyboy on the boat.
3) Get vaccinated against everything.
4) Go on a 3 hour tour.

See if former head coach Saban is interested in a low-stress retirement job.

Hey, just trying to inject some fun into what had become a disappointing season. Something exciting to look forward to...as they say, you have to visualize the future you aspire for!

The buyout is rather large I imagine

I wonder if the athletic department can do another 50/50 raffle with the caveat that the winner donates all his winnings back to the “Fire Candle” fund

I'm not sure who's unhappier here, Toledo fans or Michigan fans? Maybe we can swap coaches? I wonder what Bruce Gradkowski is up to these days?

I think the big difference is that Harbaugh will still land in his feet if needed, but when Candle’s current contract expires (NO MORE EXTENSIONS, O’BRIEN!), his no-better-than .500 seasons limping to the end will be the end of his head coaching career.

And Bruce was doing the color for the radio broadcast today. Sounded like he knew more about what was going on than Candle did...

For my vote, I say you look for a position coach from one of the more successful G5 programs—Cincy, UCF, etc...I don’t think we can afford a good one from a bigger program than those. Or you give Kuligowski a shot. Unfortunately, I think our football program stock has dropped quite a bit since Campbell left...at that point, I still say today we could have had some very interesting options, but as we know O’Brien got lazy and we’re where we are today as a result.

The fight for Marcus Freeman will be interesting. I think he'll jump straight to P5 though.

He would be a great pick but he’s already at $600,000 as the DC at Cincy, and I think Candle has ruined it as far as UT paying anyone else the obscene salary he’s getting, so I doubt Freeman comes here for what we will be paying...plus yeah, he’s more talented than MAC-level. But I could see looking at a position coach from Cincy...much of the same recruiting territory, better program to steal ideas & concepts from, etc...

O'Brien has to go first. He hired Candle with no national search and then gave him a crazy raise and extension. In 18 years under O'Brien ZERO MBB NCAA trips, ONE WBB NCAA trip and TWO MAC FB titles. Except for academics, he's been a total failure. Bring in a new guy to clean house.

Interesting choice! He’s making over $500,000 this season so if it comes to it, it may depend on whether he wants to be a head coach for a 1 or 2 hundred thousand more...

What about Greg Dempsey? Already has the necessary recruiting chops, exceptional coaching record, has some solid cred in Toledo, and wouldn't cost an arm and a leg.

Whoever mentioned Eberflus is ******* crazy, and you're not getting many P5 or AAC coordinators with the max salary UT should probably be targeting based on their budget situation ($500,000 or so).

Hiring from within with a bloated salary and no talent/experience to justify it is the UT way regardless of department
