I'm going to give you the good and bad with this one.

The Good...

Under Roby, no other AD that I'm aware of at NU had the string of success (Conference titles, NCAA appearances, Players high graduation rates, and the overall competitiveness of all teams) that he did. That's something that I think can't be denied.

The Bad...

Football was dropped under his watch.
Turned his back on alums, but focused (and told us at a DHD meeting) he was there for the student-athletes (which he was).

As much as I hate to admit, he was a better AD than Irwin Cohen, Ian McCaw and NU had more success under him than the late Dave O'Brien.

But I can see alums shaking their heads on this one.

RE: NU 2020 HOF Class
Cohen and McCaw were placeholders. Roby was here twice as long as Obrien so he should have more championships....especially after he took the sixty-three football scholarships and spread them around to track and field, etc.

Maybe Roby should be in the Educator Hall of Fame...not the Ahletics Hall. I don't think he even cared about Athletics. He hardly ever showed up at the Arena and when he did it was for some some ceremony and after it was over....he left.

Plus, he has the vision and charisma of a robot and that's why as six years as the Harvard BB coach he couldn't recruit anyone or inspire his players to anything better than a six year .372 career winning percentage.

What was his greatest accomplishment? He says that it was winning the Beanpot in '18. (Like he was the coach)

Dave Obrien had vision. He got us into the CAA. And we all saw renderings of the new stadium. But something changed in '06. Freedland left and Aoun took over. O'brien was out and the hand picked Peter "the educator" Roby was in. He tried to kill football in '07 but he made the mistake of giving notice and there was a backlash. The following year he didn't make the same mistake and it was a done deal.

I think I've posted this before but whin O'brien was named AD, Jim Madigan (head of development at the time) asked my wife and I to have lunch with Dave. He was charming and always remembered our names and greeled us with a big smile. I spoke with Roby like six times.....and every time he started off with, "Hello, I'm Peter Roby."

Sorry but I would put Dave Leito in the Hall before Peter Roby.

I'm certainly not going to debate this with you. I was shocked when I saw his name listed too.

I loved O'Brien. He always had time for alums and told us what he had in store for athletics, just like our current AD Jeff Konya.

Not Roby though...

I like what I see of Konya. He's got energy and I love our increased presence on NESN. Not sure what his vision is yet.
