Yup, unless they had a plan for FBS Indy/ eventual FBS conference, it's a lateral FCS move w/ a slightly better group of teams.

I really can’t see EKU going anywhere but FBS. And hasn’t JSU flirted with the Sun Belt forever too?

Looks to me like a “signaling of intention” by all parties.

The ASun wants to think outside the box, high level FCS schools want Karl Benson to hear their names thrown around.

Still can’t figure out UCA though. Footprint stretcher, probably couldn’t make FBS work in Razorback country.

If we were FCS we would have tried to join over EKU, if only to be able to play in Louisville every season in 18k seater arena Freedom Hall...

I like Ted Gumbart. He keeps it lively. He’s a straight forward, approachable, nice guy. I’m sure he’ll come up with something to have us all talking by June.

Karl Benson retired last year FYI - Keith Gill is the commish of the Sun Belt.

Personally, I’d love to see him become commissioner of a C-USA/SBC East breakaway conference using the very same Swim Conference scheme he devised to create the UAC.
