Tomorrow is d day as if clear will be traveling. The men's basketball team is on pause for a positive Covid test connected with the program. They have not said if it was a trainer, coach, player or support staff and out of the Mohegan Sun, bubbleville event.
24 new cases and 7 day positive rate of 0.6%.

I know it’s most likely going to be a blowout (no offense to UMASS, they know their situation currently) but I am really looking forward to a Friday night, good weather watching with my son game. Fingers crossed.

Same here Dusky, game notes are up. Will quote how young the squad is and so thankful for these games. Good luck in the remainder of your season. There was a noticeable difference between Georgia Southern and Marshall. For us the team was finally watchable, despite the overpowering Herd.
Quote:UMass football features 59 different student-athletes across its offensive, defensive and special teams depth charts. Of those 59 Minutemen, 39 are in their first or second seasons at UMass (66.1 percent). It includes 18-of-28 on the offensive depth chart (64.3 percent) and 19-of-26 on the defensive (73.1 percent). Additionally, two of the five specialists (40.0 percent) are in their first or second year, which is not including offensive and defensive position players.
Of the 59 total student-athletes featured on the depth chart, 19 are true-freshmen and four are redshirt freshmen.
Twenty-four different players made their UMass debuts on October 17 at Georgia Southern.
Twelve Minutemen made their first FBS starts during the opening two games, including six on the offensive side and six on the defensive side.

I don’t know the background on UMass. Why so young and light on scholarships?

Ah, time for the sad background. Through 2006, we were an elite fcs program and Whipple left and then coach Don Brown left and a very bad promotion from within was made and did not recruit well. Then a former AD made the next bad hire, who pitted war games matches against QB and defensive line men etc and many left. Next Whipple was hired back that was all offensive recruiting and almost nothing on defense. He brought in some Jucos and then got his pension and left. We started 2019 with 56 scholarship players and with injuries where dressing around 52 for games and had to start Walk-ons! We've never been told the number of walk ons given scholarships with the comment they do not want to scare us with the number.
We now have low 60's and this free year will help us as many team will not recruit the full 25. Since they will have some additional players that stay because of the free year. We never been at the 85 limit but in a few years should get their. Coach Walt Bell won the job with his recruiting plan and not for his call playing experience. He has recruited well last year and this, currenting at #99.

FAU goes on 4th down and 4 early on from UMass' 32 and end up scoring a TD (32 yard run from Posey). Reviewing it right now to see if he was down at the one.

Posey fumbled at 1, recovered in the end zone by FAU (TJ Chase), fumble advanced the ball, so FAU keeps the ball at 1. And, while I was typing all this, FAU scored a 1yd TD run.

Ok he fumbles at the one , and then another FAU recovers it in the endzone but its not a touchdown.

Right, but the original call was a TD.

FAU fumbles at the mid field on the second drive. UMass' blitzes off the end are getting there...

End of one. FAU is having a fourth-down and 6 at UMass' 20 yard line. FAU 7-0.
