Where has "Stever20" gone? It seems like he has slacked off in updating the original post.

ARK ST - K STATE 1.79 M (Week 2, FOX, noon)

HOU-CIN 1.39 M* (Week 10, ABC, 3:30pm)

BYU-HOU 1.16 M* (Week 7, ESPN, Fri 9:30pm)
BYU-NAVY 1.15 M* (Week 1, ESPN, Labor Day 8pm)
ARMY-CIN 1.08 M* (Week 4, ESPN, 3:30pm)
ARK ST-MEMPHIS 1.03 M* (Week 1, ESPN, 8:15pm)

The high mark was 3.06M but of course Georgia Tech was involved. Another disturbing trend is that 12 non P5 games cracked 1 million but only 4 games since Week 4 have. Week 4 is the first week of the SEC and once that happened they got the top time slots, pushing the non P5's to lesser time slots which will obviously hurt their viewership. In Week 1, none of the P5's played so Arkansas State/Memphis got the prime time slot on ESPN and was able to get over a million viewers.

Here's a good challenge for the non P5. This week because CBS lost their SEC game they will air a MWC game instead (San Diego State/Nevada) (https://themw.com/news/2020/11/17/cbs-to...ame.aspx). SDSt is 3-1 and Nevada is 4-0. They will go head to head with Wisconsin/Northwestern on ABC (3:30pm) and Kansas State/Iowa State on FOX (4pm). Beat the Big 12 this week in viewership! That would be a great accomplishment for the MWC/G5's and a huge embarrassment for the Big 12. I'd love to see it! Of course I'll probably be watching my conference (Big 10) and try to inflate their ratings and their next TV contract.

you missed LOUISIANA-IOWA ST 1.68 M in week 2

I would eliminate any games involving a P5/Notre Dame. What we want to see is the rankings of games that have just G5 teams involved (and including the G5 indies - BYU, Army, Liberty).

True. does 1 million stay as the bench mark?

2020 Non-Contract-Bowl team vs Non-Contract-Bowl teams over one million viewers:

UCF-MEMPHIS 1.90 M* (Week 7, ABC, 3:30pm)
HOU-CIN 1.39 M* (Week 10, ABC, 3:30pm)
NAVY-TULANE 1.35 M* (Week 3, ABC, noon)
APP ST-MARSHALL 1.25 M* (Week 3, CBS, 3:30pm)
SMU-TEX ST 1.23 M* (Week 1, ESPN, 4:30pm)
BYU-HOU 1.16 M* (Week 7, ESPN, Fri 9:30pm)
BYU-NAVY 1.15 M* (Week 1, ESPN, Labor Day 8pm)
ARMY-CIN 1.08 M* (Week 4, ESPN, 3:30pm)
ARK ST-MEMPHIS 1.03 M* (Week 1, ESPN, 8:15pm)

Nine games.
#1 through #3 are AAC vs AAC.
#4 looks like what the "G5 Playoff will be worth BILLIONS of dollars" crowd would want to see.
#5-9 all include an AAC team. 7 of 11 AAC teams are represented. Two games are BYU vs AAC and a third is Army vs AAC. In all three of those cases, the AAC side is already represented among #1-#3.

Just counting up the viewership of the highest-rated games involving non-P5 teams, the total viewership has been well over 40 million, to date.

The actual number is probably well over 50 million when the other games are added in, and by the end of the season - - with a lot of high viewership games yet to be played - - the total will probably be over 75 or 80 million, and could possibly surpass 90 million for the year. Not bad for a pandemic season.

SMW Weekly Update: https://www.sportsmediawatch.com/2020/11...ek-eleven/

Big Ten Cheerleading Portion:
"Later in the day, ABC averaged a 2.6 and 4.69 million for Wisconsin-Michigan on Saturday Night Football — up 63% in ratings and 73% in viewership from last year (Clemson-NC State: 1.6, 2.71M) and up 8% and 21% respectively from ’18 (Clemson-Boston College: 2.4, 3.89M)."

You know the conference is doing well when they are up 73% in viewership in a pandemic season over a non pandemic season, especially considering we have a pathetic Michigan team this year and the national runner up Clemson from 2019. In fact 21% from the national champions from 2018 is also pretty good.

"ABC’s Noon ET Indiana-Michigan State game rounded out the top five at a 1.6 and 2.44 million, down a sharp 63% and 64% respectively from last year’s much-hyped Penn State-Minnesota contest (4.3, 6.74M)."

Yeah, Indiana-Michigan State's down 63%/64% in viewers ... from another Big Ten game:) I missed the days people watched Penn State ... including me:)

Up this week are two undefeated Big Ten showdowns (assuming COVID-19 doesn't cancel them). Indiana-Ohio State is the Big Nooner on FOX and Wisconsin-Northwestern at 3:30pm on ABC. I'd like for them to be the top two games for the week although Bedlam will be played and Northwestern doesn't have many fans. I think Ind/OSU will win the week though. The SEC won't be on CBS this week and none of the games scream ratings blockbusters (Alabama and Georgia will both be on SEC Network which won't even be rated).

Nobody doubts that the B1G has a much larger fan base than the ACC. The attendance figures alone bear that out.

Well FOX doesn't respect the Big Ten this season. They screwed us out of games on their network and stuck us with FS1 slots several times. This Saturday, Ohio State at Illinois is on FS1 while the Big Nooner on FOX is Must See TV Texas Tech at Oklahoma State! Two weeks ago, Penn State at Nebraska was on FS1 while the Big Nooner was TCU at West Virginia. Fans spoke with their remote and Penn State-Nebraska outdrew TCU-West Virginia (and this is with Penn State and Nebraska with a combined ONE win between them!) So someone needs to cheerlead for the Big Ten because FOX doesn't respect us and thinks the Big 12 is better than us. Let's show them next Saturday and have Ohio State-Illinois outdraw Texas Tech-Oklahoma State. Prove to FOX who the REAL OSU is!

Anyone who's every lived in small-town or rural sections of the midwest will tell you that one of the main reasons why the Big Ten gets higher ratings is that, unless you're into hunting or fishing or other outdoor activities, or are obsessed with hobbies, reading, or the internet, or unless you live near a big city with lots of entertainment options, there ain't a hell of a lot of other things to do with your spare time in large sections of Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Wisconsin, Michigan, or up-state Pennsylvania, especially when it's cold outside.

Wow, to me the FOX coverage seems to tilt heavily towards the B1G over the Big 12. The "Big Noon" game yesterday was Ohio State vs Indiana, BTW.

That said, you can't blame FOX for the fact that the B1G didn't kick off until almost Halloween.

Since the Big Ten returned (10/24)

Games on FOX:

Big Ten (4):
Nebraska at Ohio State (10/24. noon): 3.4/6.18M
Michigan State at Michigan (10/31, noon): 2.4/4.22M
Indiana at Ohio State (11/21, noon): TBD
Nebraska at Iowa (11/27, 1pm): TBD

Big 12 (7):
Iowa State at Oklahoma State (10/24, 3:30pm): 1.6/2.81M
Texas at Oklahoma State (10/31, 4pm): 2.3/4.04M
Oklahoma at Texas Tech (10/31, 8pm): 1.2/2.12M
Oklahoma State at Kansas State (11/7, 4pm): 1.0/1.92M
TCU at West Virginia (11/14, noon): 0.85/1.37M
Kansas State at Iowa State (11/21, 4pm): TBD
Texas Tech at Oklahoma State (11/28, noon): TBD

The Big 12 has had almost twice as many games on as the Big Ten. They've had a Big 12 game on every weekend while the Big Ten missed two out of five weeks and three out of five Saturdays. In fact,

Pathetic 12 (6)
Arizona State at USC (11/7, noon): 1.3, 2.33M
USC at Arizona (11/14, 3:30pm): 1.3, 2.21M
Oregon at Washington State (11/14, 8pm): 1.5/2.73M
Arizona at Washington (11/21, 8pm): TBD
Stanford at California (11/27, 4:30pm): TBD
TBD (11/28, 8pm): TBD

The Pathetic 12 started two weeks after the Big Ten yet they got two more FOX network games than the Big Ten did!

Here's a ranking of FOX network games 10/24-11/14:

Nebraska at Ohio State (10/24. noon): 3.4/6.18M
Michigan State at Michigan (10/31, noon): 2.4/4.22M

Texas at Oklahoma State (10/31, 4pm): 2.3/4.04M
Iowa State at Oklahoma State (10/24, 3:30pm): 1.6/2.81M
Oregon at Washington State (11/14, 8pm): 1.5/2.73M
Arizona State at USC (11/7, noon): 1.3, 2.33M
USC at Arizona (11/14, 3:30pm): 1.3, 2.21M
Oklahoma at Texas Tech (10/31, 8pm): 1.2/2.12M
Oklahoma State at Kansas State (11/7, 4pm): 1.0/1.92M

Is it a coincidence the two Big Ten games are the top two games? Only Texas-Oklahoma State is anywhere close to them. And FOX press was bragging about Indiana/Ohio State's overnight ratings. https://twitter.com/FOXSportsPR/status/1...16/photo/1

f FOX aired more Big Ten games on FOX instead of wasting the slots on inferior conferences, they'd have better ratings, period. Why should we have to settle for Ohio State games on FS1 when Texas Tech gets to be on FOX? And you wonder why I'm mad?

Well, I see here that the B1G had the "Big Noon" time slot the first two weeks it was back, and had it this past weekend as well. FOX has yet to air a Big 12 game in the "Big Noon" slot since the B1G came back. The first of those will be this coming weekend. Yes, Texas Tech vs OK State is a junk game, but so is Ohio State vs Illinois. Granted, Ohio State vs Illinois is less of a junk game, but I bet the reason they aren't putting it on FOX is because it would be going up against another B1G game, Michigan vs Penn State, which is airing on ABC. Michigan and Penn State suck, but they are two blue blood names, and would overshadow Illinois/Ohio State.

Plus, you have to factor in the BTN, as that is co-owned by FOX. FOX therefore has an incentive to put B1G games on that channel and they have put quite a few on there. There's nothing comparable to that with the Big 12.

FOX isn't stupid, they know who draws and who doesn't, and they program accordingly within the constraints of their contracts.

TCU at West Virginia on Nov. 14. Lowest rated Big Noon game of the entire season.

Alright, so they had one Big 12 game as Big Noon, point still stands.

2 Georgia @ Alabama week 7 CBS 9.61M 8pm gd there
3 Ohio St @ Penn St week 9 ABC 6.53M 730pm gd there
4 Indiana @ Ohio St week 12 FOX 6.36M (rounded to 2 decimal places) noon
5 Florida vs Georgia week 10 CBS 6.34M 330pm

7 Tennessee @ Georgia week 6 CBS 5.77M 330pm
8 Notre Dame @ Boston College week 11 ABC 5.14M 330pm
9 Michigan @ Minnesota week 8 ABC 5.12M 730pm
10 Alabama @ Mississippi week 6 ESPN 4.89M 730pm

goodbye to:
Oklahoma vs Texas week 6 Fox 4.81M noon

CBS 3
ABC 3
Fox 2
ESPN 1
NBC 1

SEC 4/4 (2, 5, 7, 10)
B1G 4/4 (3, 4, 6, 9)
ACC 2/2 (1, 8)

noon 2
330 3
primetime 5

In addition to the most watched game of the week, the Big Ten got the 2nd most game of the week (Wisconsin/Northwestern, 4.245M), beating Bedlam (4.101M). You know the Big Ten is more popular than the Big 12 when even Northwestern games are outdrawing Bedlam. Yeah I know Northwestern is undefeated but they're a private school with few alumni. Gameday was at Bedlam and the game was in primetime.

The best Pathetic 12 game of the week? USC-Utah with a whopping 1.329M! And that wasn't even the FOX game! You know you suck when you get outdrawn by a G5 game (Cincinnati-UCF, 1.576M). Yes, USC-Utah was late night but Arizona-Washington was prime time on FOX and got just 1.144M. Cin-UCF got the 2nd highest viewership for all G5 games this season. The bad G5 news is that the MWC game between San Diego State/Nevada on CBS didn't get 1 million (.859M).

I'd expect Auburn/Alabama to be in the Top 10 easily, replacing Mississippi. Then all 10 games will have at least 5 million. Auburn did lose to South Carolina but is back to 5-2 and when it comes to the Iron Bowl you can probably throw out the records people will watch. I'd guess it gets 3rd place, somewhere between 6.53M and 9.61M.

RE: 2020 College Football TV Ratings top 10 games- thru week 8
SportsMediaWatch weekly article:
https://www.sportsmediawatch.com/2020/11...diana-fox/

The title is literally: "Big Ten tops another college football Saturday" (I'm not making this up!)

"For the third time in five weeks, the Big Ten — and Ohio State in particular — topped the college football ratings charts.

Indiana-Ohio State averaged a 3.7 rating and 6.36 million viewers on FOX Big Noon Saturday over the weekend, marking the third-highest rated and fourth-most watched college football game on any network this season. The Big Ten, which began its season a month ago, accounts for four of the top ten audiences thus far — matching the SEC for the most of any conference.

In the five weeks since it began its delayed season, the Big Ten has generated the week’s top college football audience three times — with each of those chart-toppers involving Ohio State.

The conference took top two spots this week, with ABC’s Wisconsin-Northwestern game ranking second at a 2.35 and 4.25 million."
