You are ranked #15 and were counting on a win this weekend to boost you another spot or two, or at least keep you where you are. I was hoping my team would get it together and beat you, as we do every other year or so, but this was probably your year. I get it. Other than on Saturday I am happy to see you (and anyone in C-USA) succeed and get ranked. However, if you believe that Charlotte is afraid to play Marshall, or even afraid to lose a game, then you have lost your collective minds.
We understand. No one said you're afraid to play Marshall, It's a combination of a lot of things. Charlotte's had some instability lately with the covid stuff, but when you look at it on paper, and you look at the quotes from our decision makers, I don't know how you can take it any other way. It's a cumulative holding pattern.
Like I said in my post, there's just a lot of factors, health, lack of financial incentive, and facing a difficult task on the road.
It's not one factor, it's a combination of them. I just wish your program could have held it together, found a way to play the game. I know Marshall would have done everything it could have under the same circumstances.

If there's little financial incentive to play, heightened risk, and getting your doors blown off, certainly Charlotte is going to bow out.
And I completely understand the Charlotte posters on this board, and the fans of both fan bases have no say in this, unfortunately this is the reality. Charlotte didn't want to come to Huntington because they knew it was going to be bad for them.
Marshall has played with injured, covid down and contract traced players on the side, why is it that so many other schools are having such a difficult time?
The Charlotte fans on this board are never going to hear the end of this. Y'all can just stay home with ODU, you're not going bowling anyway this year. All facts.
I know you are trying to make this about you and how great you are, but the reality is this virus is exploding in urban areas, and this conference is full of urban teams. Several rural teams had to cancel games when it went through their towns.
Nobody is scared of marshal football.
I said it was a combination of things. Can we all agree, this sucks for all of us?

Notice that the “real men” schools figure out a way to not cancel? Marshall, USM, WKU, Middle, UAB, UTEP, UTSA. Am I missing anyone?
Just out of curiosity what is the real men strategy for protecting these manly schools? Do they lock the players up in a dark room between games and practices?
It's interesting that most of these manly schools are in small towns. I would say I have seen about 20 different out of state license plates driving around. Doesn't look like the snowbirds are stopping from coming down to South Florida. I wonder why they don't just stay home to help protect us. No one cares.

This is silly. Charlotte is not worried about getting blown out. Is that likely what would have happened, yes. Is Charlotte canceling a game for that, no. We’ve now cancelled/rescheduled 3 games (2 C-USA). That’s bad but not as awful as people are trying to make it sound. And many of the games we’ve played were against teams that were better than us so saying we cancelled Marshall because we’re scared is dumb. We’ve had 3 games (1 C-USA) canceled/rescheduled by opponents.
The fact is that from what we’ve heard, we’ve had to cancel games because contact tracing has taken out entire position groups. Not sure if that is the case here, press release only says testing.

Meanwhile across campus, Marshall's basketball team has been down with Covid 4 of the last 6 weeks, per D'Antoni. Maybe Doc can give them some advice on manning up.

The line was 21, UNCC was going to get blown off the field.
However, it is the right call not to spread covid of course. This virus appears to have hit southern urban areas slowly in the summar, rural areas hard in the early fall (lots of postponed games in September in those areas) and now hit urban areas hard via a second wave in November.
Has any team in the nation not had a game canceled or postponed?

Oh yeah. It absolutely sucks. I can't imagine having to tell our kids week after week about this stuff.
I also think that you guys are having an amazing year, and are more inclined to make games happen even in weeks that other programs likely wouldn't. I would hope Charlotte would do the same thing.
It's just a completely crappy situation from top to bottom.
From the bottom of my heart I hate it for you guys and your team. I mean that. Y'all are having too special a year to lose games.

If we're not doing that, we're not trying either.
Hamrick needs to be on the phone with Little Miami's AD this morning since Ohio has already cancelled on them. If it be here, in Oxford or even played in Cincy. Its probably the best chance for a game that needs to be scheduled right away.

Lumberjacking, shaving with the axe blade you used to fell a tree, drinking bottles of whisky in one gulp, throwing monster truck tires around, punching themselves in the penises. You know, real men stuff.

UTEP has had all 4 home conference games canceled on them. They have not canceled on anyone.
Not sure it's possible at this late date, why not Marshall v. UTEP?

I do not know the precise situation with Charlotte, but, out of curiosity, what would marshall do if they had 7 assistant coaches missing due to COVID. Would they still be travelling? I am pretty sure they would not.

You’re pretty close. None of our players have been allowed to leave town since they reported in the summer. The players agreed to restrictions on their movements in order to get to play. Position groups are split during meetings and team activities to ensure you don’t end up with, say 10 offensive linemen being quarantined. First and second string players meet and workout separately. On the road team members eat individually in their rooms instead of team meals. We added buses so players could spread out more. Each player, coach and AD employee is tested 3’times a week.
If you want to play, you have to sacrifice. Our team has been willing to do that, but apparently that’s not the case with all conference teams.

Here’s the reality.
Charlotte has had the financial resources to weather this pandemic. Just basically a 4% paycut for folks making above a certain level in the AD. No mass long furloughs or sports being cut. No missed paychecks or people laid off.
Charlotte. in the last month, added a buy game with GW. If they are so broke, why would they pay GW 150000 to play them in front of 1000 people?
As for being bad for us on the field, that’s sports. We heard it from your fanbase last year. You were a double digit favorite in Charlotte last year and went home with an L. It’s why games are played; To settle such questions on the field.
Healy was going to play Ga State with most of his two deep out. He wants his guys to play because of what they have been through. He’s not so concerned about results as
I promise you that Will Healy would rather play and lose than tell his guys that they aren’t playing again.
