RE: 2022 MBB Recruiting
Watched the replay of Hargrave's scrimmage with Oak Hill Academy from last week. Matt Nunez is listed by them as 7 foot, and is the back up to '21 Will Felton, who committed to Arizona State. Nunez played a fair amount of minutes, but was of no consequence, and rarely touched the ball, as guards totally dominated play. Do not see the move benefitting him, and hard to tell whether he'd be a fit for us going forward. With Hatton on board, much rather see us shoot for someone with uber athletic upside.

Chibambe followed back 6/18

@recruitszone tweets:

“ 2022 3 star SG/SF Alpha Chibambe tells me that Oregon St, William Mary, USC, Dartmouth, Princeton, LMU, Northern AZ, Tulane, Wyoming, Charlotte, Air Force, Montana, Rice, California, and Colorado have contacted him recently”

https://mobile.twitter.com/recruitszone/...1669873665

The program director for Ocean City Hoops, Chibambe’s AAU team, retweeted WM’s announcement of its non-conference schedule (probably because Mehkel Harvey, who I think is an Ocean City alum, is the player pictured). Chibambe now holds offers from Loyola Marymount, Pepperdine, and UC Santa Barbara.

2022 MBB Recruiting
With our financial woes, I hope our staff is permitted to recruit out of state student-athletes. OOS scholarship players are considerably more expensive (for lack of a much better term). Shouldn't be a problem given basketball's roster size, but we never know.

How many spots do we have? I'm not sure how the eligibility works relative to scholarship spots. If everyone stays, I think we're maxed out.

For our 2022 class? That's a year away.

Anybody know if they are increasing the number of scholarships a team can give to compensate for the extra year of eligibility that was granted to all the current players? If Loewe stays for an extra year that means one less scholarship for the 2021 recruiting class (who all just signed LOIs today). If Scott, Blair, and Harvey stay at WM for an extra year then there would be no scholarships available for the 2022 class. Am I understanding this right?

That's what I was thinking and therefore the question.

If Harvey doesn't play much this year, I think he may go the way of Jihar. I certainly hope not. It would be really fun to see him play three years as a badass in the middle.

Harvey, in his limited floor time so far, has already shown a lot more than Jihar. All indications at this point are that his playing was just an unfortunate side effect of last year's gameplan. Different situation for Jihar.
