With all the scores that Green Bay made tonight, Owl alum 49er Austin Walter had the opportunity to make three nifty kickoff returns for a total of 64 yards (18, 34 & 12 yards).

(On the next two kickoffs, the Packers kicked away from Walter.)

Walter was elevated from the Niners' practice squad and activated earlier on Thursday as the team's 3rd running back.

Wow. That’s great for Austin. I didn’t know he had been on the 49ers practice squad this season.
Thanks for posting that Mike.

And, according to The Roost, that makes a record 10 Owls who have suited up for an NFL game this season. 02-13-banana

RE: New Owls in the NFL 2020
Boswell just had a 59 yard FG at the half for Pittsburgh - his career long. He made it by a few yards too. The 59 yard field goal ties him with a couple of other kickers this season for longest field goal of the year (the Jacksonville kicker had one against Houston earlier today as well).

Ironically, he had just missed a 54 yard FG attempt but it was negated by a false start so he had to do it all over again from 5 yards further out. He also missed an XP just a bit earlier in the quarter (his second of the season - but he's a perfect 10 of 10 this year in field goals).

Vance McDonald tested positive for Covid yesterday. He's out a couple of weeks. That may also sideline Big Ben as the two are pretty good friends.

Yep. Ben and three other Steelers were placed on the "COVID-19 reserve list" due to their close contacts with Vance.

Ben had not tested positive ... and if their daily tests continue be be negative, they may be eligible to play on Sunday against the Bengals.

Mid-season All Pro picks. Owls have not 1 but 2 first team all pro picks! Seems like we can't get 2 first team CUSA guys ever but somehow have 2 in first team NFL. Do we lead all schools?

Wow. Thanks for posting Buho00. I’m sorta surprised that Bos didn’t make the list. Callahan making it was a great story and bigger surprise. To me, at least.

You can't make all-pro when you miss PAT's. Love the Bos though...

Justin Tucker (Baltimore Ravens) made first team All-Pro last season.

He missed 2 extra points (57/59).

So far this season, Boz is perfect on FGs, having made 11 of 11. Of course, a penalty helped with that last week. On extra points attempts, he has made 24 of 27 attempts, 88.9%. For his NFL career, he is 87.9% on FG attempts and 94.6% on PAT attempts. Not too shabby.

On one of those misses, his OL let a guy come up the middle and block it. I don’t see how that can be charged to Boz.

Walter had the 49ers' longest play from scrimmage in Sunday's loss at New Orleans. It was a 27-yard catch and run midway through the 4th quarter ... the first play of a drive that led to a field goal, the Niners' last points of the game.
