Maybe the biggest measuring stick for the coaching staff will be fixing the defense. If we do lose several on D from this year's team, that might be a good thing. lol

Are you joking or do you actually think that Silverfield will be on the hot seat after going to a bowl game?

Memphis Yankee,
Ike finds the offense somewhat predictable, ie., if Ike knows what's coming Ike feels the opposing defense has a good idea what to look for. The past few yrs with Henderson, Pollard, Gibson and KENNY GEE, 4 NFL running backs
It probably didn't matter because they were gonna be hard to stop and of course Pat Taylor was there for the power run. Throw in the occasional pass and we were tough to stop.
Things r different this yr, KENNY GEE GONE and stopping the predictable run is not complicated.
Ike would like to see more first down passes and open the game up, Ike believes we have a better recast of receivers than we've had in awhile.
Brady needs to go deep down the middle on first down when expected to run. The receivers will open up the run for our young backs
Remember u gotta go DEEP

Obviously we don't have the weapons this year at this time we've had the last few years, but we do have some pretty good weapons. I'm sure we'll turn it around. We have a great class coming in and we've made wonderful upgrages to our facilities. I'm with Stammers on the record this year.

Have a glass on me Ike.

Come on, folks. He added an American Flag 2 weeks ago. Let's move on.

I hate them too, but after the statements from Rudd and Silverfield, I'm going to give the kids the benefit of the doubt. If you read the Silverfield comments, the players obviously feel that they deal with a lot more than police brutality. That is a far cry from POS Don Lemon, lecturing Terry Crews for veering away from police brutality.

I'm going to put it out there that we will go no worse than 8-3 or 7-4 this year and we might even run the table given that we might not be in a great bowl. That will be better than half of the seasons that Fuente and Norvell had after we became good. We haven't had Gainwell, Coxie and Carter. We have a new head coach and defensive coordinator and had almost no practice time. Our defense is horrible as it has been a lot of the time when Norvell and Fuente were here.

Our fans have lost it.

I would say that we win out.

Didn’t we lose 47-3 to Arkansas State not so long ago?

You would have to go back to the early 1960s for such a sustained level of success in our football program.

When Huge Freeze was coach there. 2010

Chuck Stobart had three 6-5 seasons, 92, 93, 94. playing a lot of sec schools. And was fired.

Memphis State went 6–5 in 1992.[309] They began the season on September 5, losing the Black and Blue Bowl to Southern Miss by a score of 23–21.[310] Another close loss came the following week in the form of a 16–15 loss to Louisville.[311] In the season's third game, the Tigers dropped another nail biter, falling to #24 Mississippi State by a margin of 20–16.[312] After the season's third game, 80 Tigers football players boycotted team practice, claiming they had lost respect for Coach Stobart for the way he handled the team.[313][314] However, after Stobart acknowledged the players' frustrations and promised to change his approach, the players returned after sitting out only one day.[315] On September 26, Memphis State won their first game of the season, defeating Arkansas by a margin of 22–6.[316] The Tigers defeated Cincinnati by a score of 34–14[317] and followed that with a 37–7 victory over rival Arkansas State.[318] On October 24, Memphis State defeated Tulsa by a margin of 30–25.[319] The team's winning streak was extended to five with a 62–20 shellacking of Tulane on Halloween.[320] Ole Miss snapped Memphis State's winning streak on November 7 with a 17–12 victory over the Tigers.[321] That was followed by a 26–21 loss to #23 Tennessee on November 14.[322] They finished the season with a 42–7 drubbing of East Carolina on November 21.[323]

The Tigers finished with another 6–5 record in 1993.[324] They opened the season with a 45–35 victory over #23 Mississippi State on September 4.[325] In the season's second game, Stobart's team got crushed by Louisville to the tune of 54–28.[326] The Tigers lost a closer 17–15 contest to Louisiana-Lafayette in their third game of the season.[327] The Tigers then notched their first win of the season, shutting out Arkansas by a margin of 6–0.[328] That was followed by a 34–7 thrashing of East Carolina[329] and a 45–3 drubbing of rival Arkansas State.[330] Stobart's squad lost to Tulsa by a score of 23–19[331] and Cincinnati by a count of 23–20 over the next two weeks.[332] The Tigers then defeated Ole Miss by a score of 19–3[333] and Southern Miss by a margin of 20–9.[334] In the season's last game, the Tigers lost to #9 Miami by a margin of 41–17.[335] Star wide receiver Isaac Bruce, a senior in 1993, finished his Memphis State career with 113 receptions for 1,586 yards (14.0 yards per rec. avg.) and 15 touchdowns.[336] He was selected in the second round with the 33rd overall pick in the 1994 NFL Draft by the Los Angeles Rams.[337]

Memphis State University changed its name to the University of Memphis in 1994.[4][12] That year, the Tigers finished 6–5 for the third consecutive year.[338] On September 3, Stobart's squad lost to Mississippi State by a margin of 17–6.[339] Memphis won its first game of the season the following week with a 42–18 thrashing of Tulsa.[340] After a 20–3 loss to Southern Miss,[341] Memphis won their next four games; topping Arkansas in a 16–15 nail biter,[342] Tulane in a 13–0 shutout,[290] Arkansas State by a margin of 15–6[343] and Cincinnati in a 26–3 blowout.[344] On October 29, Memphis lost to Louisville by a score of 10–6.[345] That was followed by a 17–16 win over Ole Miss.[346] In the season's final two games, the Tigers lost to Tennessee by a margin of 24–13[347] and East Carolina by a count of 30–6.[348] On January 13, 1995, Stobart was fired as head coach of the Tigers.[349] His Tigers compiled a 29–36–1 record in his five seasons.[350]
