2020-2021 Bubas Cup standings
Women's soccer is the first sport to conclude their regular season. I'm guessing at how the points are going to be accumulated this season for this sport because the conference went to East and West Divisions, and only counted matches within the division as conference games. The East had 6 teams, the West had 5. Double round robin allows for more matches for the East so they have 2 more games to gather points. I'm going to put this first standing based upon last season's Bubas Cup wording for divisions: "For sports with divisions, the conference records of all teams are ranked and points are awarded regardless of divisional finish."

Here we go:
Team - Bubas Cup points - Sun Belt Conference sport points
1. South Alabama (11) (24)
2. Arkansas State (10) (22)
3. Georgia State (9) (20)
4. Coastal Carolina (8) (18)
5. Louisiana (7) (13)
6. Appalachian State (5.5) (12)
Texas State (5.5) (12)
8. Little Rock (4) (11)
9. Georgia Southern (3) (10)
10. Troy (2) (4)
11. ULM (1) (0)

The conference tournament starts on Monday in Foley, Alabama. 1 point for that winner. I'm not sure when the conference will begin posting the standings on the website, but I expect it will be after this tournament is completed (Sunday the 8th). Cross Country is this weekend so I will likely update my version of the standings after it's done. I'll correct it if it varies from the conference's version.

Arkansas State will be awarded the 2019-2020 Bubas Cup. I expect the conference will make the official announcement any day.

RE: 2020-2021 Bubas Cup standings
Can someone explain to me how South Alabama got the most points when they are 8-3 Overall and 8-2 Conference? Arkansas State is 7-1-1 Overall and 7-0-1 Conference

How do you go undefeated in conference and have less points than someone who has lost twice in conference? Also Arkansas State is the #1 overall seed in the tournament. I could just be dumb to soccer rules, so someone please fill me in.

3 points for a win.
1 point for a draw.
0 points for a loss.

South Alabama: 8(3) + 0 = 24 points
Arkansas State: 7(3)+ 1 = 22 points

Thanks to SkullyMaroo for giving the point breakdown for the wins, losses and ties. I mentioned in my initial post about why the East gets more opportunities for points, so with 2 extra games, South Alabama had the chance for the extra points. I am not guaranteeing that this is how the conference office will calculate it for this season, but, for the moment, I'm going by their words from how they calculated divisions last season.

I'm not sure how you come up with Arkansas State being the #1 overall seed. Both they and South Alabama have a bye and are shown with 1 by their seed in the bracket.

To be clear, its hard to say what the conference is going to do with Bubas cup points with most of the sports playing strictly divisional schedules this year. We're going off of what happened previously, but we've also never had a situation before where there wasn't a full round robin league schedule in something other than football.

We're likely going to have to wait on SBC Clarification before we'll have a true idea of how to award points for Volleyball, Basketball, and Soccer this season.

The Troy-ULM football game was cancelled for tonight which prevented a possible three way tie for fourth between Georgia State, Georgia Southern and Troy.

One more update after the championship game on Saturday and that will end the Fall Sports count. The next sports are the indoor track and field championships in February.

So regarding the football CG... Is the point just gone? Or do we both get a half?

I mean Co-Champs has to mean SOMETHING, right? The Cajuns say it does.

The totals I have posted thus far are based upon last season's guidelines. I don't think any of them have been changed for this season. Basketball finished the 2019-2020 regular season and the points were awarded for them, but the conference tournaments were not finished so the points (men and women) were not awarded. I am expecting the same thing for football for this season: no game, no point.

Thanks. And, btw, I too appreciate your efforts here. It’s great to watch unfold. If only our men’s hoops didn’t suck so bad, we may have a shot this year.
