Matt's College Sports Blog Prediction for Nov. 7 games:
https://mattsarzsports.blogspot.com/2020...10720.html

12pm ACC: Boston College at Syracuse
2pm ACC RSN: Louisville at Virginia
4pm ACC: Pitt at Florida State
7pm ESPN2: North Carolina at Duke
8pm ACC: Liberty at Virginia Tech

Already scheduled:
Friday 7:30pm (ESPN): Miami at NC State
Saturday 7pm (NBC): Clemson at Notre Dame (The big one!)

The biggest game is on NBC and the second biggest is on Friday. UNC/Duke is a rivalry game and they may be hoping for some basketball fans to draw to it. I think Pitt/FSU might be the more popular game but maybe they're just trying to build ACCN. Why shouldn't Liberty-VaTech be the dog on RSN instead of Louisville-Virginia?

Liberty is 6-0 and on the verge of being a top 25 team and VT is 3-2. Louisville is 2-4 and Virginia is 1-4. It's not the dog on RSN because it's a better ballgame on paper.

It might be a good weekend for ESPN to offer a make good game to the RSNs and provide them two games. None of the ACC games set to be scheduled tomorrow pop off the page as obvious ESPN level games. Mattsarzaports.com has a Pac 12 and a Big 12 game projected for ESPNU. It may make more sense to promote one of those up to ESPN2 in place of the projected UNC-Duke game to satisfy the make good obligation.

As I said, Chad should be given the opportunity to broadcast every UNC game for the remainder of the year (except maybe the Miami and Notre Dame games - those are already booked).

And Mattsarzsports.com gets the network mix of games correct - ACCN 3, RSN 1, ESPN2 1. Syracuse-BC ends up as the RSN game though. UNC-Duke not surprising as a national game on ESPN2 given UNC's national ranking.

RE: Game Time Announcements/Speculation
First look at Nov. 14:

Notre Dame at Boston College
Miami at Virginia Tech
Wake Forest at North Carolina
Florida State at NC State
Pittsburgh at Georgia Tech

Both ND/BC and Mia/VT are ABC/ESPN level quality games. Mia/VT is the better game on paper but ND is the biggest name and ABC probably wants them as often as they can get them.

I kind of expect Disney to use one Notre Dame game to promote the ACCN and this one seems like a possibility. So, my early guess is that Notre Dame @ Boston College is either on ACCN in primetime, or on one of the afternoon ABC slots. Also, out of those choices, Pitt @ GT or FSU @ NC State will more than likely be the RSN game. It will be interesting to see if they carry three games on ACCN that week, or if they only have two.

My First Guess at Nov. 14:

Notre Dame at Boston College ABC 3:30PM

RE: Game Time Announcements/Speculation
Nov. 14:

The Pac-12 has a bunch of crap games (Oregon has Washington State, Stanford has Colorado, USC has Arizona).
The Big 12 literally has two games. TCU at West Virginia pairs two decent teams but doesn't scream ABC.

I think it could be Notre Dame at Boston College and Miami at Virginia Tech on ABC with a Big Ten game (likely Wisconsin at Michigan). If I'm ABC, I'd want to air Wisconsin-Michigan in prime time but Big Ten teams don't usually like to play night games in November except maybe the first week. If Wisconsin-Michigan say no, I'd guess ND/BC is prime time with Mia/VT at noon. If Wisc/Mich say yes, ND/BC is at 3:30pm.

Matt Sarzniak's guesses:

12pm ACC: Wake Forest at North Carolina

4pm ACC: Florida State at NC State

7pm ACC RSN: Pitt at Georgia Tech
7:30pm ABC: Notre Dame at Boston College
8pm ACC: Miami (FL) at Virginia Tech

The U at VT is an attractive matchup. It will be interesting to see whether it gets promoted to ABC or ESPN. ACCN has one game from its weekly tripleheaders that it can give up because of the addition of the Western Carolina at UNC game on December 11. However, ESPN may prefer to use that flexibility to meet its obligation to provide one more doubleheader to the RSN package. (One is already scheduled for November 21, but that still leaves ESPN one doubleheader shy of meeting its 17 game obligation to the RSNs).

RE: Game Time Announcements/Speculation
We have six day holds on ND/BC and Mia/VT.

https://theacc.com/news/2020/11/2/footba...ov-14.aspx

Pitt/GaT is the RSN dud (7pm)

FSU/NCSt will start at 7:30pm on ACCN.

One of ND/BC or Mia/VT will be 4pm on ACCN.

WF/UNC is noon and will either be on the ACCN or ESPN2. Most likely that is the noon ACCN game although if it gets promoted to ESPN2 the other of ND/BC, Mia/VT will be noon on ACCN.

Does anyone really believe the "top" ACC game of ND/BC, Mia/VT, and WF/NC will be WF/NC? Technically ND/BC or Mia/VT can air on ESPN2 (their competition for the noon slot on ABC is Indiana at Michigan State). ESPN will air Georgia at Missouri.

RE: Game Time Announcements/Speculation
Again, according to Matt Sarzniak, these are the games on 6-day holds for Week 11 (11/14/20):

Network TBD:
12pm ABC or ESPN2: Indiana at Michigan State
12pm, ESPN2 or ACCN: Wake Forest at UNC

Games on six day hold:
Notre Dame at Boston College - 12pm or 3:30pm ABC, 12pm ESPN2 or ACCN or 4pm ACCN
Miami (FL) at Virginia Tech - 12pm or 3:30pm ABC, 12pm ESPN2 or ACCN or 4pm ACCN
TCU at West Virginia - 12pm, 4pm or 8pm ET on FOX
USC at Arizona - 12pm FOX ??, 3:30pm ABC, 4pm FOX, 8pm FOX or 10:30pm ESPN2
California at Arizona State - 12pm FOX ??, 3:30pm ABC, 4pm FOX, 8pm FOX or 10:30pm ESPN2
Oregon at Washington State - 12pm FOX ??, 3:30pm ABC, 4pm FOX, 8pm FOX or 10:30pm ESPN2

It's a complex mess, tbh.

RE: Game Time Announcements/Speculation
So, the unfilled timeslots are as follows:

Noon: ABC, ESPN2, ACCN
330/4: ABC, ACCN
1030: ESPN2

To fill these slots, the following games are available:

Indiana at Michigan State (Noon only)
Wake Forest at UNC (Noon only)
Notre Dame at Boston College
Miami (FL) at Virginia Tech
1 or 2 Pac-12 games from among USC at Arizona, Cal at Arizona St. and Oregon at Washington St. (FS1 already has 2 Pac 12 games and ESPN2 or U have 1, suggesting ESPN likely has 2 of the unassigned games).

That's 5 or 6 games for 6 slots. Only ACC games can fill the ACCN slots. The Pac 12 can only play at 330 and 1030. Assuming it's 6 games, I'd guess ESPN ultimately settles at something like this:

Noon ABC: Notre Dame at BC
Noon ESPN2: Indiana at Michigan St.
Noon ACCN: Wake Forest at UNC
330 ABC Oregon at Washington St.
4 ACCN: Miami at VT
1030 ESPN2: USC at Arizona

RE: Game Time Announcements/Speculation
Mattsarzsports.com thinks FOX has two of the three remaining Pac 12 games, which would leave one ESPN time slot unused, either an ACCN game or the 10:30 ESPN2 slot.

RE: Game Time Announcements/Speculation
Week 12 Games:

Nov. 20
Syracuse at Louisville 7:00 PM ESPN

Nov. 21
Clemson at Florida State
Georgia Tech at Miami
Liberty at NC State
Wake Forest at Duke
Virginia Tech at Pittsburgh
Abilene Christian at Virginia

Trevor Lawrence's first game back, Florida State isn't good but they're still a name = ABC. I'll say a noon start, maybe 3:30pm. I have a feeling ABC's getting Bedlam (Oklahoma State/Oklahoma) and that will be in prime time.

Georgia Tech/Miami might get ESPN or ESPN2. Then again, Liberty is getting a lot of news for being 7-0, maybe they make the "national" stage (ESPN/ESPN2) instead.

Did anyone here know Abilene Christian even had a football team? is Virginia that desperate to play a game? We have a winner (or should I say loser) for the RSN game of the week.

The RSNs have two windows this week. With the loss of a game on the ACCN this past weekend, I expect the ACCN will have three games due to their loss of a game on the 7th due the Covid related rescheduling of the Louisville-UVA game. With that, I expect the Clemson-Florida State game will be the only ABC or ESPN networks game on the 21st.
