Explosion in Harrisonburg - 10/17/20
https://www.cnn.com/2020/10/17/us/harris...index.html

Saw this first on Facebook, but now it is making national news. Building across the street from Olde Mill completely blew up - most likely from a natural gas explosion. Hopefully everyone fully recovers.

It shook the ground for miles, really loud. Lots of people came out of houses asking what had just happened.

I live just over 2.7 miles in a straight line from the epicenter. It shook my house. Incredible that it didn't kill anyone.

You can probably thank the time of day for no deaths and relatively few injuries. Most/all of those businesses had not opened yet and there is only moderate traffic at that time on a Saturday morning. If the explosion had happened around noon, we would be talking about multiple, if not many, deaths. The DNR story today quoted the person in charge of Funky's that they had a children's birthday party scheduled for late morning that day. I can only imagine......

Shook my house too.

The emergency folks at all levels did an amazing job at containing the fire and damage. They are definitely to be commended.
