Michigan Bans Open Carry at Polling Places
Good.

Quote:(CNN)Michigan will not allow the open carrying of guns at polling places, clerk's offices and other locations where absentee ballots are counted, Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson announced Friday.

Benson's directive prohibits Michigan residents from open-carrying firearms "in a polling place, in any hallway used by voters to enter or exit, or within 100 feet of any entrance to a building in which a polling place is located."

Open carry is about as smart as New Coke.

Conceal it. Less of a target.

Agreed. Florida does concealed carry only. I love it. Hate open carry. It just seems crazy and threatening. Concealed carry creates a polite society.

In Tennessee all weapons are prohibited from polling places. All.

It and if something bad happens the guy with the sidearm open carrying is going to be the first Target.

Lived in open carry states my whole life. Never did it. Never will. I carry pretty frequently, however.

Pretty much every polling place in my area is in a church or school where weapons are already banned. This at least extends that to the 100 foot rule. Although I'm guessing you can still intimidate folks...not to mention most bullets can easily travel 100 feet. 03-wink

All you say?

I guess no one is allowed to sit down. Chairs can be weapons?
I guess no one is allowed a pencil. It can be sharpened?
I guess they are using paper ballots because the voting machines can be picked up and used as a bludgeon?

Seems silly!

Most of the people I've seen open carry in public places when I lived in Alabama, were people I'm not sure I'd trust with an unloaded water gun.

I thought this was about not bringing your beer into the polling area where the voter machines are.......(in my best Emily Littela voice) "Never mind."

I wasn’t aware that I could even conceal carry at a polling place.

Kentucky also bans carrying weapons in a poll place. Most polling places here are in schools so it’s automatically prohibited.
